Darren Barker will be beaten down by Felix Sturm on Saturday night.

A lot of "small" things point towards a Sturm win.

For example he has been on weight for 3 weeks now. This is unheard of for Sturm. In recent years he made the weight with more like 3 minutes to weigh-in. His training camp was more of a dieting camp. He has stopped lettting his weight baloon to 190+lbs between fights, is following a strict diet all the time these days, not just in camp.

His trainer Fritz Sdunek, is a very critical man, I have never heard him shower any fighter with praise. He has always been unbelievably negative towards Sturms preparation for fights in the past. But even he is saying Sturm is in great shape.

Sturm himself is talking about 10-12 more fights, up to age 40. So it doesnt look like he is just 'going through the motions'.

He looked razor sharp again in his last fight, against Radosevic (bodyshot ko), like he looked against Zbik last year.

Barker seems to have adopted a new "tough guy" persona (all cold tough-guy stares and that kind of nonsense) and has become a bit too confident for his own good, talking about how Sturm is 'perfect' for him etc. He does have a chance to win here, but it wont be easy even if he can pull it off, which I seriously doubt. He better wake up to this.

Sturm is shot to pieces so i gvie barker a good chance to win and people laughing at barker getting jumped is a joke wether they are kids or not it aint funny

Sturm is hardly Adonis Stevenson or GGG though is he

 

Google it. He jumped in to help a stranger who was set upon by more than a few guys. Got himself a pasting. They were aged between 18-23 iirc

 

He got jumped by 12 blokes after trying to breakup a fight. He was bottled and then bravely kicked in the head whilst down.

 

Barker won't be getting 70% + as challenger in a rematch, though, will he?
Sturm will, as champion.

Of course all this depends on me being right about Sturm winning!

Barker is fresher and more mobile, so if Felix fitness lets him down in the second half of the fight, Darren could nick it......

 

No. He got attacked when trying to stop someone else getting a pasting.

 

Ironically enough,sjp,he's less chance of being robbed than Sturm would if he came here.Really hope he does it,seems a great lad.

 

With recent results id say your 100% right , very annoying that refs and judges seem to get it so wrong so often , a bit like footie is it not time they used some technology to improve the accuracy of decisions ?

Better fighter all round , maybe does'nt have the power but will certainly be quicker and better technically then Sturm , speed kills !!
