First off i'm not a massive fan of Froch. I like him and enjoy his fights and root for him at least half the time, but i wouldn't call myself a diehard fan. However the stupidity and fickleness of this board and boxing fans in general is just too overbearing to ignore especially when it comes to a guy who was basically the messiah of all that is good in boxing only 2 months ago. Now because he fought back and closed the gap in a fight he was losing, hurting his man in the process and took monstrous shots that really shouldn't be absorbed by any human being, he is "a coward", "a disgrace" and his legacy means nothing. Whats listed above is all he did, he has nothing to do with the stoppage (which it seemed very likely he would be getting 30 seconds later). So now he is refusing a rematch. Well he got the win after giving the relatively unproven Groves a shot in the first place. I want to see the fight as does every fan and i believe Froch will almost certainly win as Groves has performed at his absolute best and it's doubtful he can do much more. But he wants to fight a guy who is arguably the best fighter in the world not named mayweather and holds the one convincing victory over him, a fight people were interested in up until very recently. So of course earning one more big payday and a chance to cement an even greater legacy for one of the sport's most consistent, entertaining and gutsy fighters who really doesn't owe us anymore but gives more anyway, is a disgraceful move which should earn the ire and hatred of the idiotic and unworthy fans that populate the sport. (although some true, objective fans still exist). Sorry guys, but YOU are the disgraces
He shouldn't be hated but his 'warrior' image takes a hit if he doesn't rematch Groves. Esp if he fights someone like Chavez instead of Ward. Its understandable that he'd get more respect if he rematched Groves. He was getting as good a beating as Ward gave him plus he was getting more hurt vs Groves, so if he wants to rematch Ward, by the same logic he should at some stage want to rematch Groves to prove who the better man is because whatever the result, he was 2nd best vs Groves.
It's amazing how short some people memories are. This really goes to prove you are really only as good as your last fight as if all the previous fights meant nothing. I could understand the criticism if he does go on to fight Chavez Jr but even then I wouldn't begrudge Froch cashing out as he has time and again looked for the toughest fights. And Froch is looking to fight Ward which is an even tougher fight than Groves. God forbid he try and fight the best.
True, although I think Froch didn't come across well in the aftermath of the fight. I certainly wouldn't say he was a coward or disgrace, just very arrogant. I felt sorry for Groves, but he didn't box smart in the second half of the fight and credit to Froch that he took advantage of that, the stoppage was the ref's fault but even then he is governed by the BBBoC that **** themselves whenever a bad KO occurs as everyone and anyone in Britain not a fan of or affiliated with boxing seem to want to ban boxing. At the end of the day all I can say is, Rachael Cordingley...coooooor! Whether Froch is a **** or not, much respect :good
I could care less about his rematch with Groves. I just think Froch is a disrespectful ****. And I "was" a fan of his.
He's not getting stick for the stoppage, he's gettin stick because of all the things he's said post fight, how many times does this have to be stated before people understand.
I rewatched the fight today and I still think Groves should actually thank his lucky stars that the ref stopped that. He would've been ruined in the next 3 and a half rounds. The guy who actually come of worse because of the stoppage was Froch.
