Rewatched the Ghost fight, and he looked a bit sloppy. Still a masterclass, and it just speaks to how much better he is than most fighters. But he looked sloppy with some of his punches, and he missed some punches pretty badly. He looked Marvelous vs Canelo, sharper than he did in the ghost fight which was probably due to the fast turnaround. But by the time May comes, he'll have been out the ring for 8 months. With no previous tuneup. He's taken a year off in the past before, but he's about to be 37. Its different as you age. Do you think age will play a factor this coming May?
You'd be surprised. 20 to 21 isnt a big deal. but as you advance an age, a year can make a big difference.
Floyd will be just fine. First of all he has been doing this since he was able to walk. He also takes care of his body in every way possible which will help as well. Floyd's age in numbers is not his age when it comes to his body.
its sad to see shot boxers at 30 to 35 years old, they went to War on their 20's and their body took a toll.... Floyd is the master of defence and his body has not taken that mucho of a punishment... :bbb
True, and he wasnt drinking or smoking in his 20's either, so he probably has the body to the equivalent of the average 28 year old or so. But its just something I thought about .
Looked sloppy against Guerrero? I don't think so. He looked sloppier against Ortiz and Cotto than against Guerrero.
I've noticed that fighters who take great care of themselves tend to lose it at 38 (there are a few exception but suspicions surround most of these). The most recent example is Sergio Martinez, who fought extremely well against Chavez jr. but looked like **** against Murray. Look at Holyfield who was losing to the likes of John Ruiz at that age. Poor *******.
