I knew Sturm was a class above the likes of Barker and would win comfortably but i didn't think he would win so easily.

Great performance from Sturm and Barker needs to retire after that shockingly bad performance.

People make me laugh on here.if he never dislocated his hip he still would of been in the fight trading and been in a great fight. If he ran for 12 rounds boxing and moving people would still slate him. A lot of people don't know that he can't even run in his camps and has to swim instead.

I thought the fight with geale would end up being his career highlight. He really didn't dominate and got by on pure guts, especially after the body shot. Sturm v Geale II is on the cards.

In fairness to you Ter X you were one of a small minority of people prepared to nail your colours to the mast. You consistently said "Sturm wins".
Another was "Robney". Offhand there were others but their names elude me right now.
    Fair dues mate. :thumbsup

Joe....smokin' joe!! What HAVE you been smoking Joe????

Have a good laugh at yourself first.... ,,not other people.
When this fight was announced you rushed on here to proclaim:
    .....Barker will definitely out-battle Sturm....

    Those were your words....."definitely out-battle"...
Incredibly Barker went on a kamikaze mission last night - he tried to do just what you said - out battle Sturm, so in a way you were almost "right"!! Ha ha...
There was only ever going to be one result after Darren tried that approach....

    Dont be gutted for Darren.
He WALKED out of the ring - you dont do that with a dislocated hip.
Undoubtedly he did twinge it a bit, I know , but not dislocated.

Darren has gone a lot further than a lot of other tougher, more talented, but less fortunate boxers did over the years. So dont be gutted for him. There was only ever going to be one winner.
Be gutted for Sturm who was robbed of his title against Geale.....not Barker who simply lost ill-gotten gains last night. Justice was done.

Hoped Barker would take it to the cards & nick it on points by boxing & moving but thought Sturm in that set of events would get it on the cards in Germany. He came out & fought a fight that was never going to win in meeting Sturm in the middle & engaging from the start.Injury or not.

Sturm rolled back the years & the right hand behind the ear of Barker was the beginning of the end.Sturm looked very, very strong in there in better condition I have seen him in years.

Technical boxing was Barker's only chance of winning & hope the posters that were strong on Sturm cashed in he was the underdog here with the bookies!

Hit the nail on the head no way did Barker dislocate his hip. U wouldn't be able to put any weight on it and he would have been carried out the ring on a stretcher. Like Darren a lot and did think there was a problem with the hip 2 round but for me 1st round never.

Hope he retires now. Made a few quid last night

Is rumoured to made nearly £1 Million last night, it seems his hip is still an issue, I would not be disappointed if he called it a day. It is always nice to watch a fighter leave the sport with some money and their health intact.

I know mate.Had big op on lower spine - hip area years ago. Now I'm no kind of tough guy but NO HUMAN could walk with that kind of pain, trust me. Undoubtedly Darren did twinge it a bit though..I wouldnt call him a liar.
Bizarrely...and this is not a word of a lie ---my own hip acted up Sat morning..fact!....still sore now! Some kind of omen?

Like you I hope he give up now, though Im gutted for Felix who will be deprived of a nice little payday in the cancelled rematch.

    This.
Those close to him know that it has been an absolute miracle to have got the last 4 fights out of him after his last hip ops, and to get through those four camps and fights AND pick up a world title on the way is pretty incredible.
Yes the defence was disappointing but it was better for the hip to go after picking up a world title rather than before, because he knew once it did (and it would) then that would be game over for him in boxing.
A top top bloke who imo outperformed his talents and overcame horrendous injuries and set backs in life to become a world champion, think some respect is due.
As for the bloke who said his hip isn't dislocated because he walked from the ring, do me a favour, he's dislocated both on numerous occasions so he knows the pain and it has become bearable , doesn't mean he can box like it though does it ?? You could break both his kneecaps and he'd walk from the ring .
Sturm was a beast last night and Darren was up against it anyway despite the hip imo.

    QUOTE from ZZ

Im that bloke ZZ and I know what Im talking about. Been in the wars myself. I admire your loyalty to Darren and agree with much of what you say.

But Sergio didnt hit him on the hip did he? ...and he went down didnt he?
Geale didnt hit him on the hip did he?......and he went down didnt he?
Felix didnt hit him on the hip did he?......and he went down didnt he?

You see ZZ its about more than just the hip.

Murray and Macklin are genuinely incredibly hard men...thats why they did so well against Felix - Darren just is not physically hard enough to be a top level pro boxer/champion. No shame in that - 99%+ of the population arent either.

So less "lip about the hip" please.....

No - it's been reported his hip's dislocated. Apparently his hip flared up in the first round.

I mean c'mon, this was an extraordinary performance - to be blasted out in less than two rounds reveals something was clearly amiss here. Feel sorry for him.

everyone keeps banging on about what a nice guy Darren is well like most I don't know him but it must be said that was a embarrassing defence 24hrs before he was saying how he will have a long reign as world champ

Such awful performances usually happen for a very specific reasons; I think that's manifest given he was blasted out in less than two rounds. Something clearly not right.
