He certainly looked shocked last night.....with not a great card to look forward to next week. He has signed so many domestic fighters he has to hope someone picks up the baton so to speak.Talk of DeGale decent fighter but he missed the boat post Olympics & a career fighting in front of less than 1000 people regularly tells you he certainly doesn't appeal.
Things wax and wane. I think some people have already said it right, recent results mean that one or two of Hearns 'big ticket' fighters are diminished. I reckon that's normal enough in the exciting world of boxing promotion. Let's see where everyone is in 6 months.
Think a few fighters will be getting pushed a little quicker now... Month or so ago whilst his stable was on the crest of a wave you sort of got the impression that Eddie will take his time moving the likes of Smith,Yafai, Campbell maybe even Joshua along, think now he will hurry a couple of them along in tougher fights on undercards. Gutted for Barker, such a nice bloke but Sturm just steam rolled him. Even without the hip problem doubt he would made it to the 5th really.
Brook will be the man. After the knocks out porter. He will rise to the occasion when facing top welterweights. You guys are so harsh on brook its funny lol. THe guy isnt even the finished article yet. But anyway yea eddies only got brook who will be hes crown jewel.
This,it`s the ups and downs of the sport. He has got the Sky deal extended for two years and it will be up to him to keep the ratings up and put on fights that will sell well at the box office. He did well to get Barker a title but with his injurys it never looked like he was going to be around for a long time.Signing Groves would be very good but he has most of the domestic talent in the uk and some exciting prospects in Joshua and Campball so he`s going to be fine.
Doubt its over for Hearn...Brook is very, very good - star material. So is Yafai. Soon Carl Frampton will be up for grabs again, bet Hearn pulls out all the stops to get him back.
The whole thread is a joke really,Barker lost but so what in the grand scheme of things. He has never got big ratings on Sky or been a massive ticket seller and 14 months ago he was all but retired anyway so him winning a title was a bonus. All Hearn needs to do is make the fights that get good ratings on Sky and fill venues like Brook-Hatton did.Having World champions is not the be all and end all now days it`s about putting on shows that people want to see.He might need to start matching his fighters against each other soon for example Crolla-Mitchell rather them fight intercontinal fight no one cares about
I remember a few months back put up a thread talking about how overrated the Matchroom stable is, i got slated and called a troll, seems what i said has come to pass, Bellew is done at world level, Barker will unfortunately have to retire, Froch is done after 1 maybe 2 more fights, Burns will get beaten by Crawford, Brook mark my words gets found out at the elite level, Eddie has to many average fighters he also has nobody who could be a superstar in Britain, Froch has lost so much popularity now, he needs Groves Badly without him who are the matchroom stars in the next 2 years
Didnt you mention the possibility of Sturm getting the ko against Barker recently? Fair dues :thumbsup. Hope you are wrong about Kell Brook though....
Whilst I don't think it is over for Hearn, it's looking a bit shaky at the minute. DeGale would add a crowd puller to his stable, also perhaps signing Browne from HitMan Promotions, before he wins the Commonwealth would be a good idea too.
