They love Brawlers like Kirkland Hurting and sending guys to the ER with Brain Damage rather than Watch such a master chess player on Rigo..

Whats wrong with todays Boxing Fan Base?.... rigo is such talented boxer and a Treat to watch I would hate if that sack of **** Arum refuses to put him on big fights...

Most people have always preferred brawlers/ko artists over slick tactical boxers.
Why do you think Tyson was so extremely popular back in the day?

It's more spectacular and exciting. And the possibility of physical damage has always ben there.

your poll doesn't make sense too.
It's chosing between somebody getting hurt and a chess game, without a single level inbetween.

    OR...

do you like watching the Sweet Science, a chess master player that can go home to his family and children?

Nah, that's just silly. Course you can like both - in fact it's even like you're implying that there's no skill to offensive fighters.

The display of both Cubans this W/E was sublime, but it doesn't mean that more offensive styles are either any less appealing, or for that matter, necessarily less skilled.

And FWIW - the title suggests you believe that at some point in the Golden past the situation was different....

    It wasn't.

Getting hurt is the brutal reality of our sport.

I don't think people take joy in someone getting carried out on a stretcher, I know I sure as hell don't.

But getting hurt, even to the point of death is just the brutal truth to our very brutal sport.
I love to watch our high-end technicians like Rigondeaux and Mayweather, and I love the fundamentally GREAT fighters like Andre Ward, but I also love to see a Kirkland-type all in scrap.

What does that make me? I'd say a fan.

The Crab shell and that type of defencive fighters was invented way way back then, but it died out and only a few chess players use it now, but it was popular back then, it was called the Sweet Science.... :good

A true boxing fan wouldn't boo a talent like Rgondeaux regardllless if they found his fights exciting.

If you think boxing became popular because of the sweet science you are delusional. Boxing use to go on until a man got knocked out. It is unfortunate but that's the truth to boxing's popularity.
