He's 40 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!that may be the problem. LOLOLOLOLOL
Sure they are, they can help with explosiveness/power. Forget what shane is now. Look back 10-15 years. He was better than Floyd is.
ummm no hes a 42 year old former 135 pound beast...... people get old, especially boxers who started off in low weight divisions... hes been shot for years atsch
Hold up Guys I'm getting popcorn.................................................................................... ok go! I'm ready.
Shane has been stiff as hell for the last decade. That's heavy weight training, like the barbell back squat which overtime, destroys your spine. Look at Rigo and Hopkins. Game over.
There is no evidence shane weight lifting had anything to do with his back injury as I say it, it was freak accident in which his head was pulled down in his last fight wight Mundane. Second there are people in there 70 and 80 doing squats, which has improved there way of living. It is true you can injure yourself if not doing the exercise correctly but this is true with any exercise including those done with kettle bells. Finally Shane's style of fighting is a young man style of fighting. Speed, and power combo's which Shane's used to dominate the 135 in his early twenty would not work for someone as they got older. Hopkins has always had a thinking man style, rather then brute strength and speed so Im not sure of your comparison of Hopkin's style and Mosley's
I disagree Moseley is how old, and has been boxing for how long? Injuries are a part of every sport, and I would advocate weightlifting for every athlete, especially sports that involve a large degree of strength. In Mosley's case you could probably argue that his weight training has helped increase his longevity in sport, considering the guy is still boxing (although way past his prime) in his 40's.
I don't think that power lifting is good for boxing but boxers can benefit from resistence training, mainly the "complex" or "circuit" type training, which combines strength training with cardio training. To throw a wrench in the thread who is to say that Mosley's injury was the result of poor lifting technique or something altogether different, maybe he was trying tae kwon do, break dancing, bronc busting, could be anything.
Shane shouldn't of taken that fight Mundine was too big for him.Shane always had problems with bigger guys even in his prime. He took it because of the payday.Golden Boy will never promote a fight of his
So we are all clear...is it the OP opinion that weightlifting, and not being an old shot 40 year old at the tail end of a very long career, is the reason that ssm's body is failing him?
