Oh dear my azz, you're a well known K bro hater. What pace? He almost got beat by the slow Bonavena, who today would be considered a slightly overweight CW??? Save the atsch for your lame arguments. Wlad got up after getting nailed by Sanders, who hit harder than Frazier. So Peter throws in "slow motion" while Frazier is lightning quick :nut Peters is also a massive HW compared to Frazier w/much more punch resistance when he first faced Wlad. Forget the K bros... Joe gets beat by many good HWs from 2000+ and brutally stopped by top modern HWs. You're hyping Frazier to hype a bygone era where a certain type of Am dominated the HW scene. Sorry if that upsets your biases :hi:
After Wlad got up he hopped on his push bike and ran. He got away with it because Peter was a walking stump who moved in baby steps. He doesn't survive against Fraizer. Joe doesn't give him space to breathe , his hook gets through his zero defense, one after the other. This is a hook so lethal it took Muhammad Ali off his feet. Who did Snaders ever knock out? He emptied the tank on Rahman and didn't move him. Brewster and Pianeata all landed left hooks on Wlad easy. Wlads glass chin gets cracked in the first round. You're done here pig belly.
Frazier doesn't even physically reach Wlad's chin. Is Frazier going to KO Wlad with bodypunches? Because that's all he can land.
If Haye can land and Valeuv's chin, Joe can land on Wlads. You best believe that. And you telling me you never seen a ko by body shot?
Be honest now..... Have you ever seen any of these fighter LIVE ????!!! I have . Ive met all 3 too. Joe would smash Wlad in 1 or2 rounds & Vitali would quit with a hang nail. Bet you've never been within a mile of a boxing ring to bootatsch
Frazier wouldn't land jack**** against either of them and you know it. Joe was a great, inspiring fighter for his era. And only in his era. In the 90s and 2000s he would be outmatched in unfair mismatches. You guys trying to compare him to modern days SHWs you realize you are not doing Joe a favor, you're actually pissing on him :deal
Although Frazier would be terribly small compared to current HW, I don't think he would be slaughtered like many people in this thread like to believe. Joe was around during an intensely competitive HW era, and was durable in a way that was hard to understand then, and is rather unseen now. I think that Tyson has shown what a smaller HW with great head movement, a busy style, and a brutal left hook can do. I really think people are underselling Smoke here. Let's try not to forget that Joe is no plodding/uneducated boxer. Yank Durham and Eddie Futch created a perfect pressure/volume puncher in Frazier, and, barring the Bonavena matches and the Foreman match (Which only Joe insisted on) was incredibly well matched. Add to this, Joe was a really smart boxer, an Olympic champion (64), and was regularly sparring with great boxers, (Buster Mathis, Gyspy Joe Harris, Etc.) and was no stranger to fast handed, smart fighters that were fleet of foot. That style, utilizing "cubist" foot work to apply pressure behind a wall of multi-leveled shots from various angles, alternating dracula/cross arm defense and a body attack that could crack a church bell, would still be a hell of a fight for any era, let alone an era like today, that, albeit dominated by larger men, is devoid of an aggressive, cut-throat HW atmosphere. Joe would still be a handful for any HW outside of the absolute elite fighters, and even then, Smoke isn't coming alone. If you think for a second that Eddie Futch couldn't dismantle, deconstruct, or decode a modern HW, as far as style/technique/ ring generalship, and construct a solid fight plan that Joe would follow to the letter, YDKSAB. Seriously, Yank and Eddie knew that Smoke was a goddamn perfect storm, power, speed, durability, discipline, tenacity. He had what a took to bust **** up. With Eddie and Yank, you literally needed full on mismatches in the form of Foreman to derail this train. In a theoretical fight between a Klitchko brother and Frazier, I would expect, if not, guarantee, ham-fisted, borderline criminal refereeing job, similar to the clown act Tony Perez conducted at Madison Square during Ali v Frazier II in '74. I'd expect excessive holding, pushing, clenching and any and every attempt from Wlad (especially) to avoid any inside work, and I would expect the working referee to turn a blind eye. Get a fair ref in there, and I think you have more of a fight than many people are suspecting.
If you honestly think Smoke couldn't lay leather on Lewis over 12 rounds, (and make no mistake, it would go 12. No way in hell Lewis puts Joe away early.) you're out of your f*cking mind. Seriously, you can believe that Joe is not as good as current/last era's HW's, but get out of here with that blow out nonsense. That's just absurd.
Right, because Foreman took 2 rounds to pack away Frazier while bouncing him off the floor 5 times but Lewis - who is multiple times more skilled than Foreman was - would take 12 rounds. Yes, that makes sense :rofl And don't tell me styles make fights. Lewis would go after guy he outweighs by 40 lbs from the opening bell on and find his chin early. It would be a quick and brutal destruction.
you're delirious, it took lewis 7 rounds to take out an out of shape, past his prime Tyson, who's is smaller than Frazier! What the hell makes you think Lewis would simply steamrole Smoke? You're really just making stuff up. and again, you're the one who made the silly remark that Joe wouldn't even be able to touch him... really this is just silly..
On paper, Ali and Frazier were mismatched. Ali held almost every conceivable advantage. Yet, each fight was desperately close. Just saying you can't always just go by numbers...
