The biggest difference between the two as I see it is that Ali could overcome adversity and did many times. Wlad has not and maybe cannot.
Ali has a real fighter's spirit, whereas Wlad is an athletic guy who just happens to be a fighter. There is a difference. Even Wlad himself has stated that Vitali is the true fighter of the two.

So without making a predication, I will say that if Ali encounters serious adversity, he has a good shot of overcoming it. If Wlad encounters serious adversity, he'll lose.

I don't see how he could have leaned back and pawed the jab, when Ali would have danced in and out of range, for the full 15, if needed.

How is modern training too advanced?

Wlad has just a small reach advantage in this fictional fight. Skill-wise I would agree that Ali is a class above Wlad, especially his movement, but I am not sure if the fight would be such a walk in the park as many guys believe. Close fight, almost a toss-up.

    Ali 60%, Wlad 40% chance

Wlad would give Ali all the space he wants to move around him.

He doesn't pressure and he doesn't tie his opponents down. Without having that essestial tactic against Ali , Wlad would be in for a long painful night.

You have to be more than limited 1-2 puncher and have adaptabilty to beat Ali. He easily naturalizes Wlads right hand, his only major weapon.

Wlad also couldn't go beyond 5 rounds fighting at a high pace against Brewster. He most likely collapses from exhaustion befor Ali gets to stop him.

I'm glad you're back on the thread, it's getting ridiculous now with some of these comments and the logic that's being used.

This has always baffled the bejesus out of me. 'Modern' training. It's the same damn thing they have always done, maybe a tad different here and there, but essentially the same.
You'd swear that guys from 50 years back had NO idea of how to get in shape.
Then you see these old-timers going 15, 20 rounds with ease, and you realise what a load of bullcrap all this 'modern' mallarky is, especially when the modern guy is huffing and puffing after 5 rounds.

Just imagine what prime Ali would do to crude Sam Peter? The same Samuel Peter that had Wladimir panicking on the floor, what.. three or four times? :rofl
