You should go watch the fight again, specifically the beginning of the 11th round. LM knocks the mouthpiece out 2:52, DG retreats to the ropes, LM follows and then corners him, but, instead of engaging him from far away LM more or less lowers his head and gets close. This allows DG to tie him up and DG essentially stops the action 2:46. The ref is supposed to call a break when there is a HALT IN THE ACTION (which DG creates). Then there is 17 second break where Tony Weeks walks and retrieves the mouthpiece FROM THE CROWD then takes it over to Angel who doesn't even wash it off, and the fight is back on. For what it's worth the reason the break was probably a little longer was because Weeks had to actually get the mouthpiece from a woman in the crowd, it's not like it fell in the ring and he could just pick it up. It's also not like Weeks pulled Lucas off of Garcia and broke the action, rather he just waited for the action to naturally break (or in this case, when a fighter caused break in the action).
You go ahead and lose your house if you want. Matthysse is too slow, lacks defense and foot work, and has overrated power against Garcia. He does have a granite chin, though, but so does Garcia. Garcia by decision. It's the smart money, I promise.
I hope Garcia starts the fight, "Got any excuses Lucas?" AND let's not forget, Alexander beat Lucas. Maybe Lucas should fight Porter first. HA HA
In the first fight, there were some elements that may not be repeated: low blows(although Lucas was hitting behind the head), mouth guard getting knocked out of Danny's mouth, Lucas eye swelling near shut. Will be a great fight!
Lucas should have just started playing tennis with Garcia's bollocks as payback everytime Garcia went low, that may have discouraged him :bbb
I see it as a fight either man could win. It seemed like Danny was hurt more when Lucas landed, than visa versa.
Both men showed they have iron plated jaws, but Garcia is more vulnerable than Lucas, and that is what will be the deciding factor when they meet again for me :bbb Lucas should have taken the bull by the horns a bit more, if he had stepped it up a little earlier on he may have got Garcia out of there on a couple of occasions, Garcia didn't like it when the heat got turned up a little bit in them early rounds and was clearly shaken on a few occasions, Lucas will bring the heat in the rematch because he'll be fighting with his career on the line, he can't lose 2 on the spin to the same man or then it would surely be the end.
I can't disagree, there is no way that the fight plays out the same way next time. I think Danny can outbox Lucas, and he is a mean body puncher, but Lucas seems better able to take punishment, or he has one ATG poker face. Even when he went down, he wasn't hurt.
Hard to root against Matthysee, robbed twice against Alexander and Judah. I'm definitely a fan of both fighters, one is always the under dog, while the other always gets the short end of the stick. Both humble, good fighters.
Lucas boxed a lot less against Garcia than he usually does, I think that was a combination of falling in love with his power a bit and the eye made him want to try and rush the knockout instead of setting it up :deal Both guys fight with amazing poker faces, neither of them give **** away. :rasta
