From your perspective, not a fans perspective. There's lots of fans on here who enjoy watching him, me included.

A lot of people that walked out of the Rigo fight missed a historic night of boxing. It was the 2nd lowest amount of punches landed in a 12 round fight ever recorded by compubox. (Baily/Alexander was #1)

History in the making, tell your grandchildren about it!

I watched the Rigo vs Agbeko fight live, I switched from SHO's card to watch it. I enjoy watching Rigo work, the only criticism I have is that he should pick it up a little bit when he has the fight won. I don't mean jump in face first a la Pac, I mean pick up his pressure intelligently.

... if his opponent ist ****, not willing even to try ... then do not write this to Rigondeaux's bill, ... but to his promoter's ...

I can imagine that they did it with a purpose ... Arum was already saying after the biggest upset of the year what his opinion is, with the famous "they at HBO though up when I mention Rigondeaux" ...

Fact is Guillermo is P4P best 5 athlete!

A week before, Kovalev-Sillakh had 1,250,000 viewers, and it wasn't even the main event.

Just curious, where do you find the number of viewers for fights?

I'm sure the Showtime fights played into Rigondeaux's poor numbers but the fact that 168,000 people turned off the broadcast after the Kirkland fight instead of watching the Rigo fight also says a lot as well.

I'm sure Rigo will be back on HBO but most likely as the b-side to guys like Donaire and Lomacheno and this is probably his last fight as the a-side of a main event fight. His future paychecks will probably be hurt because of these numbers.

I hope both networks realize that duleing cards hurts both of them. Sure, the occasional day where you get two cards on you get to spend the whole day and night watching boxing is great. But it would be better for everybody if HBO and Showtime programmed their cards on different dates from each other.

maybe it had something to do with a guy who is pound for pound in the top 10 fighting a guy with 4 losses in his last 7 fights ....if that doesnt scream "watch me" nothing will :-(

Something ro remember: Kirkland-Tapia being scheduled as the lead-in was no accident. HBO and Top Rank wanted to support Rigo on the card with an all-action fight, but they also wanted to test his ability to retain the fans that tune in. That's a crucial metric; if the fans they do attract just don't stick, that's going to lead to less marketing investment in the future.

These results aren't going to help his bargaining power in future negotiations at all. They're terrible numbers; approximately 1 in 4 of the fans that tuned in to watch Kirkland-Tapia simply quit watching the Rigo fight.

And let's not pretend the Showtime main event vultured too many of those fans; Paulie-Zab wasn't exactly "must-see TV" in its own right.
