Thats an insult to an asterisk,or asterix as i like to call them and i would rather replace him with a little chicken,a little yellow chicken, with a white flag in its hand/beak wearing boxing gloves and a little lady lying at his feet obviously bloody nosed after just taking a severe feather fisted barrage from the chicken.Yip,thats what i would like.

Should've happened in May 2010. I don't see the appeal in 2014. Pac has slowed down and beating neanderthal Rios changes very little of my perception of him. He ain't half the boxer he used to be after the Cotto fight and would pose little problems to a game Floyd who has simply altered his style as his age made it impossible for him to be as fast as he used to. He's a different boxer now, probably no worse than a few years ago; just a slightly different approach. More of the Hopkins kind of way. Pac on the other hand is a slower, shittier version of his former self.

The fact that the fight didn't happen in '10 was down to both men's mistakes but we can't undo that now, can we?

That would require Bob Arum to pick up the phone and call CBS/Showtime back. They have left messages, just FYI.

It appears you didn't know they already reached out to Top Rank, who ignored the call.

Floyd should be pushing for Bradley and Garcia.
Pac is still a win away from getting back in the fold.

No he should keep his "0" no matter what. But it would be nice if posters wouldn't be so hung up on whether or not a fighter is undefeated. What's far more important is who the fighter fought, and if the fight between Mayweather and Pac is never made, it will impact the legacy of both fighters, but moreso Mayweather. One would hope this would give him some incentive to make sure this fight happens.

As it stands this is already a fight that should have taken place 2-3 years ago, and the longer time goes on, the more meaningless the fight becomes because both are now past their primes.

No it won't, Mayweather will be remembered as the richest. Which is in his name Money TMT, so it's not like he cares about legacy

The chance for legacy, for those of us who wanted to see him challenged...has already passed

    Prime Pacman 2009
Tszyu, Margarita, Paulie Williams, Undefeated Mosley, Undefeated Paul Spadafora...etc

Instead he focused on safe $, which i. Understandable as boxing is a rough game & once you lose your $ value suffers...

Just my opinion, Mayweather can't change his ways

Too late to worry about Mayweathers legacy being tainted. He's already universally know as the cowardly woman beating streetpunk , scared to fight his legitimate contenders. All he'll be remembers as is A WANNABEE waste of talent coward

You don't judge fighters based on what they didn't do or should have done.

You judge fighters based on what they did.

    ---

And to answer your question, Jack Dempsey never fought Harry Wills.

    Boom...

    Hahahaha

We've been over all these names you list. I will do it one more time for the sake of me liking to repeat myself:

They either weren't in the same division for any time that would have made sense for a fight (Kostya, Mosley), were coming off a loss (Williams, Margarito), weren't worth the fight anyways (Spadafora), or they walked away from negotiations (2009 Pacman)...

Even his admirers who stress the negative, this guy, universally recognize him as the era's best fighter.

I am not suggesting that Mayweather did everything he can to duck them. He just didn't have the urge to look for legacy fights

You know fights that capture the fans imagination...

If he retires undefeated 50-0 he is still top 10 ATG on my list. I wish he faced the names I put so I can make him the Goat...now it's really hard to do so at the way things are going...He should have took Spadafora (O), it was an easy fight to market 48-0 gone like that...it's Mayweather loss
