Could be that Carl and Barry have gone off the Kiko-Mathebula route since Quigg showed an interest in going that way too. They must reckon that Quigg will "work cheap" and undercut them on price to get the fight against Kiko (or Mathebula if he wins).

Either that or they are very very confident....either way its all good.

Have not spoke to him directly but heard from someone who was at it

Down in the second round, got up and came back, was pretty level going into the 6th and got caught, got up again but ref waved it off.

pretty dissapointed for him tbh but he has a good team around him and plenty of support so hopefully he learns from it a moves on.

While an unbeaten record it nice to have its not a nessesity to have a good career and in my opinion there are a hell of alot of fighters that would like to be in Jamies position.

After 17 fight a record of 15-1-1 against the opponents he has faced is better that having stayed in the uk or Ireland and having a 100% record against eastern european fighters and never really learn what part of your game needs work .

Obviously as his uncle/ number 1 fan i will look for the positives but i dont think the lad is doing to bad

Think the worrying thing is that he's been put down twice and stopped. With the way Kavanagh fights a strong chin is a necessity.

I was there. Total shutout... Hassan had too much class for Fitgerald.
Fitzgerald went down in the 4th from a hook to the liver, but he got up like a Warrior. He tried to put pressure on Hassan and never stopped coming forward, but Hassan toyed with him.

I can't remember if Hassan was penalized with one point for punching under the belt... but he was throwing bombs to the body an Fitzgerald was concerned about his liver, so he did not threw a lot of rights for the second half of the fight.

    From the Irish Independent
    15 DECEMBER 2013

Double Olympic medallist Paddy Barnes has announced his intention to turn pro when the right offer comes.

Barnes has insisted that he will only join the professional ranks if an offer that he feels is adequate is presented to him.

The 26-year-old Belfast boxer was beaten in his World Championship quarter-final in controversial circumstances last October in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Barnes told RTE Radio One: "When I'm watching my friend fight, Carl Frampton, he's fighting in front of 9,000 people when Paddy Barnes is fihgting he's fighting in front of 100 people. That's my main concern.

"I want to fight in front of big crowds where people appreciate you more.

"I want to showcase my skills infront of a wider audience and professional boxing would probably be best for that.

"If a promoter came to me with a contract then I'd be gone."

After his interview was played on RTE Radio One, Barnes tweeted: "People are getting confused, I'm not turning pro, never once said I was, I said I'd love to if I got a good offer!."

News of Paddy Barnes wish to turn pro is another blow to Irish amateur boxing following the decision of Olympic silver medallist John Joe Nevin to turn pro in October.

Nevin has moved to Philadelphia having signed with Berkeley Sports & Media and GreenBlood Boxing and will be managed by Tom Moran.

World Championship silver medallsit from Almaty in October and European gold medallist Jason Quigley this week also revealed that he was strongly considering becoming a professional boxer.

No would love him to so it easier to see him fight, unless goldenboy start putting on shows here or the uk that won't happen. He has a long contract with them so it's the States for the foreseeable future. And hopefully no trips to mexico for a while:deal

After hearing more about the fight from him im a more annoyed than disappointed. First knockdown should really have been called a slip, after that he got a bit over eger and chased the fight to much when there was no need to as he had plenty of rounds left but was comfortable and not in trouble.

When he did get caught in the 6th the ref wave it straight off even tho he was getting back to his feet and and felt his head was clear.

Couple of other things seem off about the whole thing, like fight time been moved forward and them been told while he was only getting his hands wrapped that he was on next so he had zero time to warm up :huh
