The not so smart champions don't tend to keep the belt longer term, maybe bad choices outside of the ring??

Floyd Mayweather is dumb as rocks. He absolutely sure has low IQ yet he is like some chess master in the ring. I dont think Pac is all that dumb, english is his second language so he just isnt fluent speaker.

Why do you say Floyd is dumb? When you see his down to earth interviews, he comes off as a smart and respectable guy.. Yes, he may act the part of the gorilla and the dog, but when you watch the interviews where he doesn't play that act, he makes a lot of sense. Plus, I don't think you can be the highest paid athlete without being somewhat intelligent.

Actually, this is very true. I think it does have to do with choices outside of the ring and how they choose to master their craft. You might go to the gym, day in and day out, but not improve on your mistakes. But if you're smart and think about what you can do to stop your mistakes, you will constantly get better.

    Ring IQ vs actual IQ??

    Both very different.

Ali was one of the smartest boxers in a ring and clearly one of the dumbest outside of the ring.

I have been following floyd for long time. I know what you are talking about. He wasnt the guy earlier in his career what he is today, this new imago is just build for making money.

I am based this of his general acknowledge what I have seen him in media. He has show he can be respectable and down to earth but far away from smart.

Some extremely dumb people have become champions. This ain't physics. Lots of belts, lots of opportunities. Sometimes all it takes is a lucky punch. But you probably can't be a complete imbecile and keep the belt for any length of time. Plus, there's all kinds of smarts. Some people are extremely physically smart and learn technique immediately but couldn't remember their own name half the time.

it depends on the other qualities you possess. hawking probably couldnt become a world champion despite his IQ, and some physically gifted, absolute ****** probably couldn't either. you need a combination of qualities to become a world champion I would say.
