I didn't include Holmes becuause he was on the way out in the given time period but yeah I shoudda - new rankings - 1. Holmes 2. Lennox 3. Evanderlistica 4. Tyson 5. Wlad
Well, Tyson was never more skilled than Lennox. Their skill wasn't even on the same level. Imo about zero argument can be made for Evander and especially Tyson despite them being world class boxers.
Not even on the same level? I suppose you have only watched Tyson at his worst then, that's all I can conclude from that statement. :-( As for Larry Holmes...very skilled heavyweight, but I think his title reign could have been a bit better. There are several guys who really aren't championship level fighters on his ledger...Scott Frank, Evangelista, Lucien Rordrigues, Marvis Frazier, Scott leDoux, Lorenzo Zanon, Ocasio...several guys who just didn't fit the bill as title challengers. Then you have Page and Thomas whom he never faced, never gave Witherspoon and Williams rematches (both deserving imo) and so forth. I'm not knocking Larry, but I don't think he would be my pick if we were to extend the time period to include his reign.
I mean Tyson was ultra-elite H2H, but you have to weigh up his unparalleled early prodigy with his meteroric premature fall. That's why hes not top three for me.
As I already said, many people felt that Tyson's career was manufactured to make him out to be something he was not. I've always seen Lennox as superior and more skilled boxer than Tyson. Like I said, Mike Tyson was doing good until the Douglas fight. Also, have in mind that Buster Douglas was a limited boxer himself, he just showed up with the right gameplan and that was enough to beat Mike Tyson. Lennox could always mix it up and had the skills and talent to adapt if the things were going wrong. That's why Lennox was always on a whole different level than Tyson.
I also rate Wlad as pretty awesome in longevity stakes, its very difficult to stay good for a long time. but poor H2H ability and tag teaming weaken his rating. Though I respect him totally, I wish he'd tested himself more because then I might be able justify rating him higher.
Many people are wrong if they felt he was manufactured. Look man, believe what you like, but get some basic facts in order. From the things you are saying, you have a very poor grasp of Tyson. Very poor.
