You're the "mandatory challenger." You do not get room to negotiate. If you want the fight that badly against the Champion, you take the 25%.

That's why this entire conversation is stupid. Manny and more importantly Bob Arum, would never allow themselves to get ripped off like that. And Manny only getting 25% is a total rip off. Manny would be cut out of millions of dollars!

now where did you get that "you can't negotiate"?

by this logic, isn't this a win for Floyd? then why the sudden "i don't care about the belt, he can have the belt" :rofl

We don't care which other boxers Pac or Floyd ducked. The fight that every boxing have been wanting to see for many years is Pac vs Floyd. And that fight is not being made because Floyd is ducking Pac. One on the greatest fight in the history, one that would get one of the most hype and exposure, is not happening because Floyd, like he said it himself, is scared about his health. "I am a rich coward".

Section 2.17 of the WBC Rules and Regulations: "a) 70% for the champion and 30% for the challenger in title bouts" I apologize, I was off by 5%.

The WBC has the power to alter how the purse is divided with a majority vote. So if Manny is to get more than 30%, that is up to the WBC. As I said, Manny and Bob would have zero room to negotiate. Not exactly favorable to maximize profit.

Also from the section after 2.17: "any boxer who does not agree to participate in a bout on the terms of the winning purse offer has forfeited his privilege as a WBC champion or challenger." If Pacquiao does not accept the WBC designated purse, he forfeits his rights as mandatory challenger. Just FYI.

im not getting any non negotiable on what you posted. Arum can just say we want more than 30% or were not fighting for the WBC belt.

Also from section 2.17: "any boxer who does not agree to participate in a bout on the terms of the winning purse offer has forfeited his privilege as a WBC champion or challenger."

If he does that, Manny Pacquiao forfeits his rights as mandatory challenger. So yea, they can do that. But now Manny is no longer Floyd's mandatory challenger if they refuse to accept.

Again, the WBC may raise the challenger's percentage of the purse with a majority vote. But Bob Arum would have zero power over that process. Feel free to read the WBC Rules and Regulations for yourself.

well, Floyd's not even the WBC champ anymore cause he's dropping his belt. remember?

and i googled a bit and read somewhere that there's an exception to that rule if the challenger is a bigger name, draws more revenue they will give him the bigger percentage.

and how does Arum have zero power? *****s on here kept saying that Arum has something to do with Pacquiao being the #1 challenger.

That is what I mentioned about the WBC having the discretion to raise the purse for the challenger. But again, that does not mean Arum and Pacquiao have the power to "negotiate." That is up to the WBC Council and a majority vote.

Regarding the #1 designation, people are just trolling. However, I think we both know sanctioning bodies in boxing are not exactly the most honest organizations, so a suitcase full of cash can go a long way in getting what you want. That being said, I don't see anything nefarious about Manny's #1 rating.

Pacquiao has obviously ducked people and has fught some truly terrible opposition over the last few years. He gets a pass because he's usually exciting to watch and is a nice, humble dude with a great attitude and a good heart. Top Rank has protected the **** out of him for business purposes though.

I hate the situation, not the fighter.

it is the biggest fight in this era, it isnt going to the purse bid.

both the champion and challenger will earn their money from the ppv buys not from a bidder, unless some stupid **** will offer 200kk+ to be split by the parties involved.

wbc will be too happy to pimp their belt just so it gets a slice of the pie.

Raheem had just outboxed Erik Morales - the same Morales who had just given Pacquiao a boxing lesson.

I think it's fair to say Pacquiao ducked all the big names @ 135...
