Goldenboy wanted to get Broner known to the U.K fans so that's why they selected Rees. It has got nothing to do with Hearn, Gavin Rees was a voluntary defence for Broner and GBP picked him.
Well for a start Purdy was never going to make the weight, but i remember Purdy sitting in the saunas with Barry Hearn the night before the weigh in. The Hearns knew fine well that Lee was never making weight, but they still made him fight when he couldn't even win the title. So it wasn't even a title fight because the title wasn't on the line. The Hearns were only interested in their part of the deal so don't give me this rubbish they got him a title shot because they never.
John I've worked with all the top promoters and Matchroom lose the others with what they do for the fighters, there respective teams ect and they alway but us in very good hotels
Absolute bollocks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2n04koeJBc 5.00 mins onwards. Yeah, well done to FW for bringing over a dangerous voluntary for very little money that ruined Nathan. Excellent match-making.
Cleverly wanted a big fight. He got one, go back and look at all the interviews before the Kovalev fight and he said he picked him :think. So what about this Lee Purdy title fight where the title wasn't on the line :huh
Your right it would be, and thats why i never said he did...as a promoter its his job to negotiate the fight which he did-the opportunity came and Purdy jumped at it. Your anger will never change that. Also when did Purdy sign with Hearn...surely the fights leading up to the opportunity were down to Eddie, so they got Purdy into a position where he could be a late replacement. Even if he wasnt with Hearn until the Alexander fight, Eddie did his job there.
They didnt force him to take the shot, the chance came, Eddie i remember being interviewed as he broke the news of the chance said its upto Lee, we know its not his natural weight but we will let him know the chance is there if he wants it and if he doesnt we totally understand. Lee jumped at it, like it or not, this not Eddies fault.
Again who did they have to negotiate with? See Wa rrens handling of Vasquez and Wilder to realise its not as simple as it sounds all the time
First of all i'm not angry so you can cut that crap out :nono Secondly Lee Purdy lost his British title to Colin Lynes and he went onto fight some Argie for the vacant IBF intercontinental title that got him a top 15 ranking, but that shouldn't qualify him to be Devon Alexanders mandatory even if Brook pulled out again.
Haha with your little finger waving emoticon, go on 'Ryan'! you sounded angry in your post, if you werent, well so what, doesnt bother me I can rephrase if you like, You disagreeing will not change that. There, now can we move on? Maybe it shouldnt qualify him but it did and Hearn sealed the deal, on Purdys insistence he did so. This not Hearns fault this opportunity that came by and the original claim in this thread i responded to was that he has done nothing for his fighters this year, well, he has. He could have messed Alexanders people around, but he never he got the deal done, hence Job done
It was at welterweight and that is Purdy's natural weight, but he only got a few weeks notice and he couldn't make the weight therefor the title wasn't on the line so that is hardly getting your fighter a title shot. Yeah Purdy jumped at it - what fighter wouldn't? The fact is Purdy was a replacement at the last minute as Schaefer tryed to get Alexander another opponent in Kevin Bizier but he knocked the fight back because he never had enough time so there was nobody else, but to say it was fantastic promoting by Hearn is a bit OTT.
