Typically guys fighting in their 5th weight class do not get a lot of knockdowns or knock outs. Guys at the championship level are harder to knock out, and Floyd has fought over 20 championship fights. Add in the fact that Floyd is a defensive fighter and there you go. Nobody was dissing Floyd's KO% as a Featherweight.

Duran finished with approximately a 58.8% KO rate (Mayweather is 57.8% for his) in his career due to moving up in weight class. Duran was an absolute beast at lightweight with a KO rate in the high 80%. This is just an example and not meant to imply Mayweather hits as hard as Duran did. It is just an example of how much a KO rate will drop as guys move up in weight.

Even Manny Pacquiao who has great pop in his punches, has not KO'd an opponent at welterweight since 2009. And Manny is an offensive fighter and I don't think anybody would claim he doesn't hit hard.

He rarely punches off the front foot or sits down on his punches. He has power just rarely uses it.

 

I have a feeling there's a part of Floyd that is sorta happy his boy lost. knowing how insecure and competitive Floyd is. Now all the comparisons are finished (relief for Floyd).I was one of those people that thought Broner would actually some day be better than Floyd. He had flashes of Floyd, except he had a fan friendly style, and he wasn't scared to stand and fight flat footed. Although a douche of a person he legitimately wanted to ko everyone that was in front of him.

Pacquiao started at minimum weight, and had much of the early part of his career at 112 (flyweight).

Robert Guerrero is NOT smaller. Because he campaigned at 135 means nothing if he was cutting 20 pounds to make it. If you rewatch the All Access video for that fight. He had trouble making 147.

Floyd walks around 150, which means he could still make 140. Canelo walks around 170+ Guerrero 160+

Its not about the weight class you fight at, its about what you come in as for a fair barometer.

Guerrero been coming in 150+ since 135, I wouldnt say he's a smaller guy than Floyd.

I met him before at a glove signing for the Hatton fight. He's pretty small.
