Depends on who is scoring the fight.
But in most on occasions, the offensive fighter will make it appear like he is controlling the fight so ring generalship will be in his favor, for as long as he is connecting and consistently backing up the defensive fighter.

If both are as good I would go with offense because activity would score close rounds. If this thread is related to Mayweather tho he has extraordinary defense and a good offense

the shoulder roll is cute and all down in the midget divisions. offense is what pays the bills in the heavyweight division.

floyd shoulder roll doesnt work on southpaw.

watch his fights against southpaws then comeback here and tell us your story.

is why floyd doesnt doens want any of that left straight.

Floyd has a versatile defense. He uses more than just a shoulder roll

Hearns didn't have a good defense. Thus, he lost decisively in his career.

One without some degree of the other means nothing.

    All offense: 2012 Khan

    All defense: 2010 Calderon

What do Mayweather, Marquez, Rigondeaux, Wladimir, and Ward all have in common?

A safety first style of fighting made possible by great defense.

That's 5 of the best fighters in the world; consensus ranking, consensus skillset, and resume.

This question is way too broad. There are so many variables at play in a boxers skill set that you'd have to take into account.

they just cancel each other out....so its a draw...

you cant say someone has extra ordinary defense if it gets hit a lot...and you cant call someone with extra ordinary offense if he hits the target less often...

    get my drift???

It is undoubtedly the case that not only in the present era but historically defensive technicians usually come out on top.

This ain't drum beating, but there is some lovely fights to be made between the talented offensive fighters being recruited outta the ex-Soviet ams and the suberb defensive fighters distilled in the US and Cuban defensive wizards.

If there is one fight that could answer the question (though it'll never be truly answered) it might be Rigo - Loma - though I'd say Lomachenko could use a little pro seasoning first. If Loma adapts well to the pros there couldn't really be a purer match up between the styles.

Other fights to salivate over in the skilled offense vs skilled defense debate would be Lara - Golovkin and Ward - Kovalev.

If they match Rigondeaux against Santa Cruz we would find out for sure

    :deal

Or Ward vs Kovalev or GGG

    :deal

reminds me of HerolGee back in the day versus Julian Jackson personally. Graham couldn't be hit for rounds on end but then it all caught up with him. Lights out for Herol that night!

are you taklking about southpaw or orthodox?

we cant be arguing here and youre imagining things in your head that floyd's versatile defense is against ortho.

floyd is nothing especial against southpaws. he is too mechanical.

when he cant shoulder roll, his offense becomes his defense, walking down southpaws. at least that was what i saw.

im liking pac's high workrate offense vs. potshotting offense any day.
