    why should he get one?

He took a sound beating, now he needs to earn another title shot

Agreed, it wasnt really close. He should have got a rematch clause though.

Mares and co can call that a fluke but you can't call a 12 round beating a fluke.

Maidana can make good money in a rematch and should win again.

lol getting brutally KO'd in one round is a fluke? i like your double standards..

still, Gonzales doesn't have to give him a rematch.

I didn't say i thought it was a fluke. I'm saying some guys when they get beat in a round say they got caught cold etc. At the end of the day Mares has a rematch clause and he is taking up the option. (So yes Gonzales has to give Mares a rematch.

Broner does not have a rematch clause, Maidana does not have to give Broner a rematch. I don't mind if he does as it will be as AB says "easy money" for Chino.

Mares got blasted early. Sometimes fighters get caught that way and get stopped, it does'nt always mean that fighter is better than you are boxistically over a course of several rounds.

An established fighter like Mares deserves a rematch more than a fighter like Broner who got beatdown over the full lenghth of a fight.

Mares got hit in the sweet spot early and could'nt recover. That may have been a lucky shot from Jhonny.
Maidana beating down Broner over the course of 12 rounds is not luck, thus why a rematch does'nt make alot of sense if you're a boxing fan looking to witness competitve fights.
