In my opinion Boxing has too many world heavyweight/other weight championships. I think they should just have one main title for each division, and two secondary titles for each division. It's so many titles it's hard to keep up. For example, you have the WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF, AND etc. What do you think they should do?

Nothing anybody can do now. All these belts are solified now, meaning they have money and boxers want there titles. i just want people with belts to fight eachother then we wont have a problem

this is World sport though. every country participates. thousands and thousands of boxer competing.

i'd like for their only to be two titles per division. it'll make it so the best fight the best and set up super fights.

Okay with the two titles per division thing. I'm down with that.

Boxing has had at least 2 major recognized titles since the 1920s. But nowadays it's just beyond ridiculous.

No. I think they should give all boxers a title. That way no one feels bad.

There should be 1 world champion per division, that would eliminate this 'boxing is a business' bull**** ducking excuse, one champion per division, all the rest fight each other to become no1 contender & get the shot, if a champion doesn't fight the no1 contender he gets stripped I.e Floyd wouldn't be able to duck Pacquiao.

The only was to truly implement this is for boxers themselves to boycott all these other bull**** titles rendering them obsolete & the only was that can get done is with 1 worldwide union for boxers, which would represent all boxers & **** all these other titles off.

agreed, any more than one belt per weight division is one belt too many....but fighters aren't about to become righteous and do the right thing, when there is more money to be made for more fighters with multiple belts to fool their fans with
hell, ze germans make a career out of getting bogus belts and fighting nobodies at home while getting rich !

If you forget about the minor belts and the interim, regular, unified, diamond, recess and other idiotic belts there's still about 87 too many.

    Everyone is a world champion.

I think a solution needs to be found at some point.

4 was annoying but just about acceptable for people, but now there are emeritus, diamond, super, unified, undisputed, regular, recess, interim and silver champs, as well as international, intercontinental etc titles.

Some of the situations are ridiculous, eg the WBA have a
    wba undisputed featherweight world champion
    wba featherweight world champion
    wba interim featherweight champion

What happens when the IBO or whatever becomes more accepted, then another then another. How many 'world champions' will there be in 10, 20 years time?

It's ridiculous, annoys hardcore fans and turns casual fans away from the sport.

I think they could do things to make it more palatable, perhaps even credible.

    Stop calling "titlists"..... "champions".

Let the alphabet orgs keep their titlists. Get rid of interim titlists of any sort., if they can't answer the bell for any reason, they get stripped. If it because of legit reasons, they get an immediate title shot upon return(logistical problems notwithstanding).

Every 2 years hold a 4 man tourney in which the titlists in a particular weight class from all 4 alphabet orgs determine the champion. In between, make it business as usual for each org.

Of course this will never happen. But it is something that I think could work without moving heaven and earth, and completely revamping the enitre structure of the sport. Which, in reality, is needed, but will never get done without a credible, singular governing body, nor the cooperation of the alphabet orgs, and promoters.
