When you watch him, he is nothing special, but the guy has won fights against decent comp. His best attribute is that he is willing to throw when his opponent throws. So far, the other guy has always taken more damage. I keep doubting him but the kid wins.
Danny's timing, power, and willingness to use it to throw when his opponent throws is a helluva factor for anyone to deal with. That's gotta be nerve racking for opponents to be thinking, "this loon is only thinking about hitting me when I'm trying to hit him!!" as opposed to defense. It's guaranteed to slow opponents and make them box, or they can turn it up and go for broke. Either way, he is always poised and prepared, very good fighter.
Never said a loss would but keeping that 0 to secure the #1 spot in the long run would do him far better than getting one big payday loss. You never know how some fighters return after losses, especially one-sided ones.
He is a lot better than he looks. TBH I thought LM was going to blow him out in under 6 rounds, but he put on an impressive display of boxing savvy and a solid chin. I think he is very much beatable though given the right opponent as he is not too hard to find on the chin. someone with the right combination of speed, footwork and power could see him beat. Amir Khan could of beat him if he didn't have such a pathetic egg chin.
Stop it. Garcia was getting his ass kicked by Khan... one lucky hook and everyone thinks hes the next superstar. He will loose this first time he fights a boxer with a decent chin.
That's because many of his qualities aren't visible on the outside. Mental toughness, adaptibility, coolness under pressure, heart&determination... To me, these are the things that set Danny apart, in addition to him being very all-round as a boxer without necessarily excelling at any one thing. Oh and RingTV's Chuck Giampa needs an ass-beating for still not putting Swift in the p4p top-10!
Future of boxing is a massive exaggeration imo. He's good, especially considering his age but not that good. I get the feeling he will never be real elite, Pacquiao/Mayweather etc style. I'd favour the 140/147 versions of Bradley and Cotto over him. I think he's destined to be very good but not great, however he might prove me wrong. He has a habit of proving doubters wrong.
stick him in with timmy and garcia gets schooled we are only now apreciating how good bradley is undefeated (technically) best resume in boxing taken on all styles iron chinned warrior schooled one of the best boxers of all time in marquez tim 'no blueprint' bradley is the next champ after manny and floyd garcia was getting schooled before his lucky punch against khan garcia is a hype job that will get exposed when he steps up
i think the reason he doesnt have a huge fanbase is BECAUSE of his dad. Hes a good fighter and honestly the matthsye fight made me a fan but his dad is the reason for his dislike
Just to clarify, what I really meant as the future of boxing is 'The Next P4P King.' When we talk Pacquiao and Floyd, we're not just talking about P4P Kings of this era, but two fighters that are on the ATG list. People keep comparing fighters to Floyd and Pac, it's a bit disconcerting and I think people don't realise how ****ing talented these two guys really are and I think they will be sorely missed once they're gone. Back on topic however, it's easy to say that a good boxer can beat Garcia but how many good boxers are there out there currently? Minus, TB I don;t think there's a real threat. Saying that however, I think Malignaggi vs Garcia would be a good fight for the purists.
