Go away moron, and shove your little Marciano doll up your ass.

You write as fvcking stupidly as that ***** talked.

Anyone who promotes Marciano the way you do knows fvck all about anything, much less boxing.

You even mention Henry Armstrong in the same thread as the stupid born kunt, you imbecile.

My question was rhetorical, my reasoning is explained in the post you quoted.

You can cite fighters who suffered ill effects with added weight, I can site fighters who did not, but neither of us can say for certian how Rocky would fair a few extra pounds over his career recorded heaviest 192.5. Me and the other poster were discussing this possibility and we think he can, you think he can't. That's cool.

No, I asked if you can prove that 192-200 lb Maricano would be significantly slower than a 184-192 Marciano? We can go back and forth debating the merits of different examples but that's a fool's game that's been played to death, let it go.

this is how a lot of the reverse mentality goes when a fighter is short. I know people who met Marciano and said that he was accurately 5"11, Marciano I was told looked very strong in person although he did so much running and jogging that his muscle mass was reduced but he blew up quick when he retired, there is a picture of him (not fat) but he is standing next to Floyd and looks 2X the size wide and bulk.

I met Joe Frazier at a party and there were a lot of fighters there. Larry Holmes was there among some other Heavyweight of the time. Joe Frazier may have been shorter than the listed 5"11 or he may have been a solid 5"11 his head and neck were thick and his shoulders looked wide (quite the opposite of pictures where his legs looked the biggest part of him. I have to say Joe Frazier and Joe Walcott were the toughest and strangest looking men I have met in person. Frazier was the scariest looking man in the room and Larry felt the same way after opening his mouth about Joes son Marvin, he called Marvin a midget but when Joe got serious and advanced toward Larry, Holmes said" Not You Joe, Not you" there was a respect for the quiet & strong silence of Joe and you had to take him serious

No, you had the deep, profound querry of... "Prove it"... A bold, insightful intellectual proposition, I must admit.

My response, cowering from your intellect, lip quivering and voice trembling, was for you to name me a mature athlete, say 28 years old, who improved his mobility and speed by gaining 10 or 15 pounds above his proven most-effective weight.

At this juncture, I am so in awe of "Prove it", that I humbly retract my inquiry. Furthermore, I am selling all my worldly goods, taking an oath of silence and trekking the countryside, pondering these two mutually exclusive, yet collectively exhaustive words... thank you for the path to enlightenment, good sir. namaste.

Fighters' heights get exaggerated all the time, as do most athletes and actors. Would it really change anything overall if Marciano were, in fact, 5'9" barefoot? Would his accomplishments be less? Rocky was never 5'11" barefoot. He was James Toney's height -- 5'9". Not exactly short -- that's an average height. But it is short for a heavyweight -- but so what.
Tyson, Tua, Frazier -- these guys were all similar in height. They were still effective fighters.

For starters you know that is a bull**** question that would only be valid if I claimed gaining weight would make Marciano faster than he already was. I made no such claim and you know that. I just challenged McVey's claim that it is certian he would slow down coming into a fight at a slightly heavier weight. It is not certain as many fighters have gained much more weight in muscle or even fat and maintained their speed.

Let Mcvey fight his own battles, he's a stubborn but smart guy. You just suck.

Let's assume Rocky puts on weight make it 5lbs, or 10 if you like ,what do you assume this would give him?
    Is it power,punch resistance,what?

I've never known a boxer to be improved in speed by adding weight .If you have please cite them.
Marciano worked like a dog in training ,very very few if any fighters have ever matched his work ethic .

He is the paramount over- achiever, his monkish dedication, absolute courage, tremendous will to win, allied with natural power ,and fanatical conditioning made him a force of nature in the ring, these rarer than appreciated qualities compensated for average skills ,and speed , a relatively small stature, and a late entry into the pro ranks ,he absolutely ruined guys.

In some cases Rocky went away to camp for 6 months ! Who else ever did that?
He even had a small solid rubber ball on elastic suspended over his bed in camp, and he alternated his hands striking it .

    The guy was a freak!

Put surplus pounds on him and he would be less than the sum of those parts imo.

    Then stop asking bull**** questions.

What is to be gained by the added weight in Marciano's case? Will it make him stronger? I doubt it. He could add some Hollywood pounds but any boxer will tell you that those sort of pounds do not really translate into added strength or power (see Broner last weekend)... especially when one is so small-framed for his division as Marciano. I see only downside to him weighing more. He was and always would have been at his best at 185.

    Namaste, leader.
