Bute by UD . I really think he will look better after he fixed his arm that troubled him in the last fights.
We will see if he can hurt Pascal with his left, I think he can.

Bute decision or Pascal KO/TKO. I'm really not sure which. Instinct tells me Bute should be too fast and slick and should just outbox him but then my head tells me Pascal has a good chin and power and more speed and skill than Froch so could walk Bute down and stop him. I'm gonna stay on the fence for now.

Does he have a chin? This is the question. Any boxer in the world would have been out in Nottingham. If that boxer would have been caught like The Cobra. Remember Bute caught Froch.

I just have the feeling Lucien will return in style, decision or not. Any Bute win is possible. Jean will not be able to catch him in the ring. For his sake, Pascal shouldn't risk anything. He's likely to be embarassed.

Anyway, Pascal is still better than Stevenson. Lol, Adonis...

Bute's left was not at his best against Froch.

Personally I think Pascal steamrollers him and that will be the last we see of Mr. Bute.

Rooting for Bute to prove me wrong, but I agree.

Bute has sparred a bunch with Pascal. They're friends outside the ring from what I understand.
Bute has never lost to a friend, and the shock and awe of Nottingham and the cold blooded unfriendliness of Froch had more to do with Butes mental loss during their fight.

I don't think Bute's gonna freeze or walk into the ring knowing he's already beaten. Boxing is said to be 90% mental.....well, for Lucian, the 90% was more like 99% in the Froch fight. When he landed his power and Froch merely winced, it was over.

MOF....it was over before the bell rang when Froch refused to have dinner with Bute in the week leading up to the fight.

If Bute comes back healthy and strong, and beats Pascal, looks good in doing so......I say, give him BHop....he'll mop the floor with Hopkins, and be #3 in the LHW division behind Stevenson and Kovalev.

He can't beat either those guys, but he can hope that Stevenson cashes out vs Kovalev, and then Bute can defend vs everyone at LHW except Kovalev.

Good thing they aren't fighting for the BFF belt.

Bute's body work might trouble Hopkins, but Hopkins is extraordinarily adept at neutralizing his foe's strengths. If he can't find a way to do so in advance, I doubt he'd take the fight, he's very judicious at picking opponents now. Either way, I highly doubt that Bute wipes the floor with Hopkins, nobody really does. It would certainly take a boxer of a higher calibre than Bute IMO.

And if so much relies on Bute's feelings toward things, you have to(and most do) have serious questions regarding his make up. And you know Pascal has been paying attention. I bet they'll come into this and look to make things as rough and uncomfortable as possible for Bute.

I'm feeling more confident in Pascal as things get closer.

Pascal and Bute are not friends. Not at all. They respect each other but that's all. Both guys are fighting for the same fans for too much time to be friends. I can see two scenarios in the last days before the fight: either Pascal talks a lot to trash Bute, or he won't say a word. He will want to intimidate Bute and choose the best way he thinks will work to achieve that. Pascal will rough Bute, outside and inside the ring, because it is the easiest way to lose. If Pascal lets Bute fight his way, he's done. Bute has to make Pascal respect him as soon as possible. If he doesn't succeed doing so, he's done.

I think Bute, with his left hand healed, has what it takes to calm Pascal down very early in the fight. A couple of big left hooks to Pascal's body would do the job and Bute is certainly the guy able to do that. Hopkins took Pascal's soul with body shots in their first fights. Pascal went on defensive mode after that. That's the blu print to beat Pascal, who has not a good stamina. Body shots will accelerate his stamina problems. He must know that, of course, and will protect very carefully his chest, leaving upstairs open.

This fight to me is similar in ways to Judah-Malignaggi.

I'm 50-50 on making a pick but think it will end up being one sided (probably with the guy I go against so I'm not picking )

Good discussions. I have a feeling Bute will control the whole fight, with Pascal trying to kill here and there... If Bute gets tagged, or if he's under pressure, he will be moving and pretty much running out of any hostile situation....until he regains control and brings it back to his technical pace. Pascal will eventually get frustrated and he'll start making mistakes, that's when Bute will counter accordingly.

Bute is a psychologically scarred man now. Pascal wins.
