Has Floyd JR fought even 20 opponents that would be classed above average?

During his whole career? When I say above average what I mean is a decent level, someone good enough for a current top 10 to have fought without it being considered a cherry pick?

Considering little Floyd has been at the top of his game since the 90's it really doesn't look good, that's almost 20 years ago......

OK i'll redefine the criteria to make it easier to understand. How many opponents has Floyd JR fought that would be considered above the level of Matthew Hatton?

    Cotto
    JMM
    Mosley
    Castillo
    Judah
    Corrales
    Hatton
    DLH
    Corley

That's off the top of my head, go further back I'm sure we could add more?

He's literally fought at the very lowest level above average fighters exclusively since the late nineties.

Incidentally, I believe he's fought 20 world champions.

JMM - FMJ Cheated against him on the scales, JMM wasn't a welterweight.
Mosley - Old as phuck (IE shot to pieces) and put Mayweather on ***** street.
Judah - See losses to Baldomir, Tsyzu, Spinks, and Clottey. Still gave Floyd a tough time.
Castillo - Arguably won the first fight and second fight was close.
Corrales - Weight-drained and going through legal problems. Chico was not really that great (see war with pedestrian ****** Juuko). Exciting fighter like Gatti but not elite.
Hatton - Decent win although Hatton was not a welterweight. Cortez didn't allow Hatton's normal mugging, which enabled him to beat Kostya Tsyzu. Fight might of had a different result with a different referee.
DLH - Older DLH who still arguably won 5 rounds off of FMJ. Didn't do much in his career after that fight.
Corley - Solid vet, underrated win for Floyd. Still not an ATG by any stretch.
Cotto - Good win, close fight. Cotto isn't the same Cotto who fought before Margarito cheated against him or who Pacquaio beat up. Not shot but not prime either.

Now were these opponents above average? Well yes considering the amount of boxers there are in the world and in each weight class. Were they elite fighters, prime fighters, or ATGs when Floyd fought them? Prime fighters would probably be Judah, Castillo, Hatton, Corrales, and Corley. Three were overrated: Judah, Corrales and Hatton. One arguably beat him and had a close rematch: Castillo. One was a good fighter but far from elite or HOF: Corley.

    "Above average"

    Doesn't mean top 10 opponent.

Pretty much implies better than middle of the pack.

There are hundreds of fighters notable to some degree in every division he's been in.

Agreed, but I would say nearly ALL experienced world class fighters (let's say with >40 fights) have fought more than 20 above average fighters.

I guess Castillo lost the first fight

    He landed more punches

    At a higher connect percentage!

He also landed the more powerful shots

    Yes, he has.

This isn't even a question at all. It's more of a statement and that statement is, "I don't like Floyd Mayweather so I'm going to discredit him."

I'm not really a Mayweather fan, either, but I respect him. He's earned that respect. I'll usually root for him to lose, but when he doesn't, I couldn't ever in my right mind say he wasn't any good. He is. He really is.

Mayweather has that Kobe effect, it seems. Kobe could win 81 games out of 82, but because he he lost a game, he was never that good to begin with and you told us so so you were right.

In reality, maybe the fact that you're trying to claim that Floyd has never fought, not 1, not 2, not 5, not 10, not 15, but 20 good opponents, is the ultimate sign of respect. You have to go THAT high in your attempt to discredit him.

Eventually Floyd will lose, because everyone does, and a lot of "fans" will come with the "I TOLD YOU HE WASN'T GOOD!" talk, but when it comes down to it, statements like that and threads like this don't make Floyd look bad. They make YOU look bad.

Funny but once he moved up above 130 the guys he faced were either above average or use to be above average!
