Either Rigo's that arrogant to think he never has to take risks to get new fans, he's content with the diehards he's got, or he's holding back because he's not sure of his own punch resistance. Maybe a combination of the three. I'm never reluctant to sling mud at Arum, but what the hell do you do to market a guy who practically goes out of his way to be an impossible sell here?

All I know is that Rigo had to have known his back was against the wall against Agbeko and that he wasn't just fighting King Kong, he was fighting his boring image. And what we got was a vintage Rigo performance where he completely outclassed the guy yet took no chances on getting him out of there. You can take that "screw the style points, I'm just going to win" stance if you've got the audience for it. Floyd's got it. Wlad's got it. Rigo doesn't. And that's going to hurt his ability to land the biggest fights.

The point is that there is nobody in boxing equally skilled as Rigo. As the matter of fact, all of the guys at his weight are levels below him. What should he do, fight worse on purpose so his opponents would stand a chance? I don't think so. If some people can't appreciate that, well, who cares, he is the most skilled boxer in the world, and he won't be running his mouth like Mayweather to promote himself to the American public.

And the funny thing is that he would encounter bigger challenges in the amateurs than he does now in pros.

Problem is that Rigo still stuck in Olympic mindset coming in at 124...to maximize stamina. At 112 he will lose 10% Stamina, but will be so powerful and rangy enough to KO ppl with less risk of getting hit in return

Well I'd go as far as saying one guy is nearly always more skilled than another guy but their styles match-up and it is entertaining to watch. A less skilled guy (but no bum) like LSC would at least make the fight entertaining. I would say a guy less skilled but has certain intangibles (like Morales at 122 pounds) would beat Rigo and make for a good fight. Frampton, LSC, and Mares all make for compelling fights.

My point is that two bums flailing away isn't what boxing fans want to watch. They want quality match-ups with excitement. Rigo might be skilled but that doesn't make for entertainment. Match him right and I think you would get an entertaining fight.

Fans can say what they want but at the end of the day he has to pay his bills. Rigo may act like he doesn't care but when it impact his bank acoount he does.

Rigo had a hard time getting opponent already now it will be damn near impossible to get top name guys to fight him for peanuts. Rigo doesn't realy have another skill to fall back on and ain't going to earn anything near what he earned in the ring. He's no spring chicken at 33 so his earning window is shrinking every year.

ROFL got what he deserved. Most likely he'll find another home though, but he wont exactly be in the driver's seat concerning negotiations.

What you just described is literally cancer to the ears of boxing businessmen: A guy who's unmarketable and can't be bothered to do his own part to help fix it.

Rigo's like that girl in high school who was really an awesome, smart chick but wore baggy Garfield sweatshirts, no makeup, never talked to people, and only bathed once a week. She could change, but she's too stubbon- why do it just to be "popular"? Some people will want to buy that broad dinner, but there's not going to be a line forming around the block for the chance. That's Rigo. Problem is, making money in boxing is as much a popularity contest as it is a sporting event. If the girl's going out of her way to make herself undateable, don't get mad when it works.

Asking Rigo to fight a more crowd pleasing style is not asking him to fight worse (forgot who said it) it's asking him to fight better. As it harder to put a hurt on on, TKO, or KO opponents. The more you push for for putting hurt on your opponent, the easier and the more opportunity you give him to put a hurt on you, or for them to easier outbox you, so the better you have to be to still come out on top. Now before I get branded a purist hater, I'm not, don't mind Rigo at all, it's just he's got a situation here and some are not looking at it correctly.

Well, I would like to see Rigo fighting some of the other big names as well, because he deserves to be seen by wide public.

Well, Leo Santa Cruz is far from being a "bum" (Imo it's disrespectful for any fighter to be called like that), but he isn't in Rigondeaux' league. I would love to see Rigo fight him or any of the guys you have mentioned, and I'm certain that he schools them all just like everyone else.

Yeah, you can now mention some guys that obviously can't fight him now and point at them as like they would have beaten him, it's always easy to do that. Yes, maybe Morales would have defeated him if he came at 140+ and Rigo came at 122, just like Floyd Mayweather or Andre Ward would have beaten him, but if they were the same size, you know Erik has no business fighting Rigo.

I like Rigo but this is true. If you're that much better you should be going for the KO.
