Explain it to us than. What are his greatest wins and what have those fighters done to distinguish themselves? What is his signature win? Can you name another heavyweight ATG who has never beaten a future HOF'er or ATG? These questions always get dismissed by fans who's favoritism clouds objective reasoning.

Yes, but using the annual rankings every fighter misses guys who were ranked. Its fair for everyone. If I had access to every monthly issue I'd be happy to use that. I'm sure the numbers would still not favor this era.

Two inescapable facts count against Vitali being the All Time Great Heavyweight.

1 - He wasn't good enough to beat Lennox Lewis.

2 - Wladimir has accomplished more than he has and has a much stronger resume.

You can make the case for him being "an" ATG, but not "the" ATG

 

Unfortunately these facts are not disputable, so i fail to see why its "over the top".

Roy Jones...when in the **** would have there 2 Worlds intersected? Roy Jones moved up to HW and beat a second rate titlist in Ruiz and never fought there again? You bring up the fights that Vit had with former CW's as a critique, what would stop you from doing the same in this case..and even worse?
