Kirkland vs Tapia was on the undercard, it had the highest views total going h2h with Porter-Alexander; there was a significant drop from that to Rigo fight though.

Best news I've heard all weekend. The fans have spoken and they all say they don't want to watch his tag and run style anymore.

Wow this kinda sucks. I thought they would just put him on a fight with Nonito and just rob him or something to get the titles back. I know its hard to revamp your style, I actually appreciate what he did a lot. I understand why it was boring, maybe he could work on some dance moves or something lol.

Pretentious fans. You think calling Rigo #1 p4p makes you an authority on boxing because it appears you understand "the sweet science" at a higher level. The truth is that Rigo has been dropped twice which shows his defense has a problem. He also lacks the offensive ability to take people out, which shows he is a bit one dimensional. Sure, he has won all 3 of his fights, but what happens when he meets a very acomplished amateur that is accostomed to his style, that can also put him on his ass and finish him?

A #1 p4p fighter has the skills to stay of his ass and put people to sleep.

Which would have been a great fight to watch, had Top Rank bothered to put him in with someone who had a chance of doing that.

If any of these Frigo apologists ran a network with a budget and a bottom line/profit margin at stake they would also have sent Frigo packing.

I like Rigo, I switched to his fight when I was watching the SHO card.

If he is that much better than his opponent he should go for the KO...

    Then he might get hit.

I appreciate his skills and footwork but his fights are boring

Rigo is definitely #1 p4p by your definition, he put a lot of people who bought the fight to sleep.

This is a surprise to some?

HBO is about ratings and entertainment. If a boxing match breaks out, so be it.

Firstly, you have no idea what are you talking about. Maybe he lacks will to put himself in a risk as he ensures his points victory, but offensive ability? It's ridiculous and stupid to say anything like that.
I don't rate boxers by "p4p" as I find it silly, but if you are talking about the most skilled boxers in the world, yes, Rigo is the most skilled boxer in the world.

If you watched Athens 2004 or World Amateur championship in China, you'd have noticed that he was one of the best in the game since back then. He fought the best amateurs with pedigree and I don't remember even one match that was close. He absolutely schooled every opponent.
So please, don't judge him if your view is based only on 4 or 5 pro fights you watched him fight.

And do you even know what are the chances he encounters an elite accomplished amateur who is accustomed to his style? It would take a Cuban boxer like him to turn pro and the top amateur Cubans around that weight right now are Alvarez and Ramirez, who are very young themselves and didn't even achieve Rigo's amateur level. By the time they could eventually defect, turned pro and got some experience, Rigo will be gone.

The only guy to do it could perhaps be Lomachenko, but he's too big and that fight should never take place in my opinion.

I know a bit about boxing having won 4 regional Golden Gloves and also beating the Canadian national champ when I was 16 and he was 26. I also ran a gym for 18yrs and coached a few Golden glove national champs.

Yes Rigo is quite the talent, but he isn't the whole package - he lacks the ability to fight forward while not getting put on his ass, hence two knock downs in his short pro career. It is always easier to hit a guy coming towards you vs. a guy running from you. Rigo always plays the going away part, and looks good doing it, but some fighters can do both and be very effective - Rigo is not one of them.
