It only took GGG a year to go from being an unknown guy with no U.S. fanbase to getting higher ratings than a homegrown P4P-level talent who'd been on premium boxing networks for years.

There's no rush to move up when the current plan is working to perfection and he's still got unfinished business at 160.

But yeah, I can completely see why Andre's desperate for that fight now. By the time GGG's done cleaning out 160, Andre's negotiating leverage is going to be significantly weaker than it is now.

You thought it was the reason Broner lost that he wasn't a Welterweight. So if Golovkin's not a Super Middleweight....

    Oh by the way....

Who was more deserving (not better skillwise) of a fight? Bute (after super 6) or GGG?

Seriously boxers need to stick to their "criteria" for picking fights

    1) This thread is a complete troll thread in case someone somehow managed to miss that. Ward hasnt said anything disparaging about GGG. In fact he speaks well of him, he knows GGG is his eventual money fight so it makes no sense to tear him down. Ward has not called him out, nor said GGG does not want a fight.

    2) Ward has promotional issues right now that need resolved first before Ward starts talking about opponents or calling people out. GGG is not going to move up to 168 until Ward gets these issues resolved, because Ward is the only major money fight at 168.

    3) The more people GGG stops on HBO before the Ward fight, the more new fans, the better ratings, and the more money both him and Ward make once the fight actually happens. Whats good for Golovkin is good for Ward, at least until they sign the fight.

    4) I favor Ward, but this should be the fight of the decade since FMj/PAC did not happen in their primes and probably wont happen in the future. (and honestly I could care less whos fault it was, fight didnt happen, fight wont happen, both will have a legacy of never fighting the "other" superstar of their era.. time to move on)

it makes no sense for GGG to move up in weight without cleaning 160. Why doesnt Andre move up and fight Kovalev or Stevenson? He is seriously afraid, wants absolutely no part of them

You know, the fact that one is a middleweight, the other one a light heavyweight, might count something.
Or you could say that Mayweather is scared of Wladimir K.

Ward has already dealt with everyone at 168 (except for Bute who he refused to fight for some reason). He needs to move up and fight Kovalev.

Or why doesn't Andre move down and fight GGG

    Like Dawson did for him?

You just bored today or something? - You put "Golovkin doesn't want to fight me" in quotation marks as if it was a quotation. It isn't.

In fact Ward doesn't have much to say about Golovkin except that it might be a decent fight down the line, and (to paraphrase) 'why does everyone keep asking me about Golovkin?'. Neither has called the other out, or said that the others ducking or indeed said anything else that's worthy of starting a thread for.

At the moment I'd be hard to bet against Ward, he is far more proven at the top level, and has something like 10-15lbs on Golovkin fight night. That said, I don't see it being the shut-out that some people are suggesting. Neither guy is some kinda magician, the skills they use are very real and demonstrable - both have excellent technique and great ring IQs - Wards is more proven but cannot be proven to be better at this point.

Why does GGG need to fight at a weight class above his? I will admit I've only recently jumped on the GGG bandwagon, he is an amazing fighter with better amaetur record than anyone currently in the pro's. Dude is no joke, esp considering his KO record and the way he dismantled Stevens. Why doesnt ward come down to fight him if he wants it so bad?

There is no comparison to Hagler or Ward, because GGG and his trainer SAID, that they would fight anyone from 154 to 168. That's what they SAID. No one forced or coerced or misquoted them.

    Any other questions?

The Golovtards aren't in a rush to post in here. Looks like they know that fight would be disastrous for their mancrush Gennady.
