Yeah like I said POST THE ****ING ORIGINAL ARTICLE OR SHUT THE **** UP IF YOU HAVE NO EVIDENCE TO BACK UP YOUR CLAIMS. YOU'RE ****ING WRITING WHAT YOU READ IN YOUR WORDS AND MIXING **** UP, THAT IS NOT SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE.

Go and fvck yourself you attention seeking lump of ****.

Nobody gives a fvck about your romanticising Tua dick riding garbage. So shove it as far up your rectum as it can possibly go.

You were either born moronic, or you have worked very hard to achieve it. Anyone who could write such nonsense as " an 8 year old boy was forced to fight men 2 or 3 times his age " and believe it, must consider incest, as being a natural state of affairs.

    Slither back into your pond.

So what's all this garbage about IP's and alts. They should be able to easily see that we all have different IP's.

 For a lot of these guys here, all they have left are the "good old days" so they will defend it with everything they have. Believe it or not, a lot of the hate for David Tua comes from Marciano nuthuggers who refuse to accept that their childhood hero would get blasted into the stratosphere against Tua. There was a huge thread in this section about Marciano VS Tua and a lot of the reasonable posters obviously stated that Marciano has no chance of defeating the much larger, harder hitting, granite chinned Tua, the "regulars" here are still butthurt about it and STILL won't accept that Tua would destroy Marciano. Personally, I don't see how it was even a debate in the first place. I respect Marciano, he was a great champion in his time but in all seriousness he would get killed by Tua.

Pacific Islanders (Samoa,Tonga,Fiji) were warriors and certainly love physical combat but excel mostly in the team sports of rugby or American football. Even with coaches/trainers/cornermen fighters are essentially alone when they go out in the ring and if plan A goes south they need to readjust in real time. If Tua was never really and truly a fighter in his blood I don't think he could have created any body of work at all. if his father pushed him into something he didn't want, he would have found a way out.
For me his legacy is that his is by a mile, the best islander to lace gloves and a respected and fierce puncher who came up a little short (!) when it came to the big one.
If Ruiz is a champion Tua is too.

Right, lets get a few FACTS here from Tua's 1996 interview at the Holiday Inn, New London Connecticut, with Gavin Evans.

" He was raised on the tiny Western Samoan island of Faleatiu as a member of a community of 300. His father Tuavale Mafaufau ran a convenience store and small holding which earned enough to keep his 9 children in good health. But he always harboured ambitions of making it in the ring, and when this failed he imposed the burden on his 5 sons. Tuavale taught David to box at the age of 8, AND 3 YEARS LATER began to select men off the street to SPAR with the lad."

" If they won, they'd be given a loaf of bread, and I would be given the strap, so I tried to avoid those SPARRING sessions "

" When he was 12 his parents and 4 siblings moved to Auckland in the hope of earning more money with the rest of the children remaining behind. Tua joined them a few months later in the winter of 1984, and discovered that the island home had been exchanged for a small, cold government flat shared with another family."

After a YEAR WHEN he was 13 his father ordered him to join a boxing club because " I was hanging out with the wrong crowd, and doing the wrong things. But the boxing separated me from the trouble, along with the loving, and caring from my parents."

" With his sharp eye, quick reflexes, and surprising speed he excelled at sport, playing in the trials for the N.Z secondary schools national rugby team, rugby league out of season, and also representing his school at hockey, and cricket. YOU CAN REFER TO ME AS A SPORTS FANATIC he says with an eager nod."

" I LOVE sports, particularly rugby. I'm not bragging but I used to be devastating on the field. I played second five eight ( centre ) and when the team was in trouble, say on our own 22 line when the only choice for the guy with the ball was to kick, I'd say don't kick the ball! and because the guys were scared of me they would throw the ball out and I'd run it."

The individualistic streak was directed mainly through boxing. He won the national junior Heavyweight title at 15, even though he was only a Middleweight, and became the youngest boxer ever to win the Senior title A YEAR LATER.

Now if anyone ( particularly SKS ) is moronic enough to interpret the above, as a guy who was forced into boxing against his will, and made to fight grown men at 8 years of age, then thats their fvcking problem.

I searched the bolded part in every news archive in existance and could not find a single news article that contains those words in exact order. If you decided to write those words and "publish" it on boxingforum24.com, IT IS STILL NOT A VALID SOURCE!

I could care less what you found, or didn't find on any news archive. Neither do I care about your worthless moronic opinion about how hard David Tua's introduction to boxing was, along with his 4 brothers.

Like I said my post was quoted for from an interview given to Gavin Evans by Tua in 1996 during the build up to his fight with David Izon.

You will have noticed I didn't ask you for a reliable source for the garbage you wrote in the opening post, because it was obviously palpable nonsense.

If on the other hand you want to read for yourself the above quoted interview, you might start by researching Gavin Evans, and delve through his life's work, and discover in which book, magazine, blog or whichever it was written.

I have no intention of helping you.

Tua, HIMSELF stated that he was forced to spar with grown men at 8 years old and I have absolutely no reason to not believe him and take your words over his.

maybe poor old Tua should have started at an even earlier age , then he may have had a better chance against real men like Ike and Lewis

The article in the original post of this thread were published in a news article and those were Tua's words VERBATIM but I couldn't post the link to the article because I haven't been a member for 60 days. Not only did Tua say that but two different writers verified that indeed Tua did spar with grown men at the age of 8.

You gotta understand that Samoans come from a brutal warrior culture where men routinely fought to the death for thousands of years so TO THEM this is not nearly as crazy as it is perceived by you who come from another culture. Tua has no reason to lie, he even stated that "It was not something I would have an 8 year old do but I had no choice." As brutal and primitive this was, in his father's mind, this was a valid method of turning the little Tua into a "warrior".
