Hey juantard, just a quick question Why does a fellow mexican Barrera say this about Marquez? Barrera on Marquez's KO of Pacquiao: 'He Got Lucky...Marquez Is Not Greater Than Pacquiao" http://sports.yahoo.com/news/barrera-marquezs-ko-pacquiao-got-lucky-marquez-not-072200152--box.html :yep
Manny was with ARIZA when he ducked all those tests. And yes JMM did beat Manny at least 2x, JMM III for sure. But maybe judges are ALWAYS right.
MAB wanted so badly to sit on the throne as the best Mexican fighter of his era and with that KO of Pacquiao by Marquez, Barrera knew Marquez had cemented his legacy as the best Mexican fighter of his era. "I, me, yo".......thats MAB in a nutshell, he's always had a "me" attitude. On that same Mexican broadcast team that called the KO, the greatest Mexican fighter who ever climbed a ring was beside himself with glorific emotion, Julio Cesar Chavez could'nt have been more esctatic that JMM had knocked out Manny Pacquiao if he had done it himself. Certain fighters you like and others just rub you the wrong way, and MAB since he got the short end of a close decision in the first Morales fight always has rubbed me the wrong way. You can sense the huge ego he has. They all have ego's but an example of one of the reasons I've always liked Chavez, he can set his ego aside and root for his fellow countrymen even though it might mean they surpass him as the consensus best Mexican ever. Before Marquez vs Mayweather, alot of Mexican scribes talked about Marquez possibly surpassing Chavez as the best Mexican ever if he were to beat Mayweather at 147 lbs. The question was posed to Chavez and he point blank agreed that Marquez would lay claim to the best Mexican fighter to lace them up. " Its an extremely difficult task, especially with Marquez having to go up two weight divisions. I wish with all my soul Marquez can somehow summon what it takes and find away for Mexico to celebrate with him on that night." Chavez a fighter comfortable and happy that his merits speak for themselves even if someone else possibly surpassed his standing, MAB would just as soon make an ass of himself and not give merits where their due. Must suck to be MAB!
Great post KO6 was arguably the Greatest KO in the history of boxing, especially when you take into account the decade of pent up hell JMM must have went through Says a lot about both Chavez and Barrera for their responses
You do realise there is still 6 years left in the decade in which Kell Brook is going to overtake him :think
