Great news about Cummings. This guy is for real and his pro style will really help him adjust faster than most amateurs would.

Canelo actually said in Ring magazine one of his grandfathers or great grandfathers was Irish and said he would love to defend his title in Dublin or Belfast.

Did you see this performance Fra? He's very strong and aggressive. This Cuban beat Billy Joe Saunders in the 2008 olympics!

That's a very impressive win for Martinez. Mathebula only dropped a SD to Caballero in Panama a few years back and is one of the few people to go the distance with Donaire.

However Frampton-Martinez 2 isn't looking promising. Post-fight it was Quigg who was in the ring with Martinez congratulating him.

For what it's worth, Martinez-Quigg isn't a good fight for Quigg. Quigg isn't a good/consistent enough fighter to keep Martinez off him for 12 rounds + he's been put down by lighter punchers.

From a sanctioning body point of view, surely Frampton (who is the IBF Inter-Continental Champion) should be first to fight IBF champion Martinez.

Quigg's WBA 'belt' is worthless and its only purpose should be to make Quigg the mandatory for a shot at Rigondeaux, the WBA 'Super' (read - Actual) champion. However Eddie Hearn has said numerous times on twitter today that he has no interest in Rigondeaux. This of course makes sense as Quigg would be annihilated by Rigondeaux but Hearn's stance only serves to further reduce the value of Quigg's 'World Title' which he didn't even win in the first place (First being awarded it without fighting for it and then 'consolidating' it after a messy draw with the Hirales-level Salinas, who he didn't even offer a rematch).

If there's any justice Frampton-Martinez 2 should happen in 2014 and Carl can then take that belt and attempt to unify against Leo Santa Cruz in America, but alas, as we all know, boxing doesn't work this way

Would think so. I thought he edged the fight by 3 rounds but still should be beyond this level if realistically thinking about titles.

Pauls main problem was his big chances came too late. Against Lynes seemed to be his peak.

There were 2 vs 1 in the first fight: the referee allowed Carl to bend under the waist line all the fight.

If the rematch is not in Belfast I would not count out Kiko.

Carl Frampton camp go after IBF champion Kiko Martinez

Carl Frampton is hoping to get the green light to fight IBF World Champion Kiko Martinez in 2014.
The Tigers Bay super-bantamweight was in Spain on Saturday night to watch Spaniard Martinez defend his title against Jeffrey Mathebula by stopping the South African in the ninth round after an impressive performance.
Now it seems ‘The Jackal’ and his team have made a substantial offer to get Martinez to defend his belt against the Belfast banger in his next outing.
Martinez, however, may not be keen to take the fight as he was stopped for the first time in his career by Frampton in the ninth round at the Odyssey in February.
Speaking last night Frampton said: “It is a fight I would like but we have other options. If it does not happen, it will not be the end of the world.
“Kiko fought well but Mathebula was well past his best. He looked slow and was not the fighter he used to be.
“Martinez has not changed since he fought me in February, he walks forward and throws punches but Mathebula hadn’t the power to keep him off,” he added.
There is competition to face Martinez as current WBA World champion Scott Quigg was also in attendence on Saturday night and is also keen to take on Kiko in a unification encounter.

Yes, Frampton knocked him out, and probably would knock him out again in a rematch, but the ref was a disgrace. If you didn't see it you are a biased fan that DKSAB.
