Now i respect cotto hes brave and is chaseing legacy unlike floyd, but cotto underestimating sergio, he's had time to recover now, if he 100 per cent he stops cotto imo and in a brutal fashion. Plus he leaveing millions of dollars on the table, i want to noe whose advising cotto, cos the selected trout and now martinez both terrible decisions.

He's got enough pull to dictate terms to Sergio. He can't do that with Alvarez. Plus, the Canelo fight will always be there.

How are you coming up with that Cotto is underestimating Martinez?

Applaud Cotto for going after the legacy instead of the money but this one might backfire on him.

I will pick Sergio if he fights Cotto.

I like this fight, but would honestly prefer Alvarez to face Cotto. I suppose Alvarez taking on Molina or Angulo and Sergio/Cotto is a solid 1-2 in the division for the Spring.

Will Alvarez move up to MW or a catchweight to fight the winner?

Will there be a catchweight in this fight? Cotto already did 153 for Margarito II... Wouldn't surprise me if this is at 158, right?

IDK... breadman from boxingtalk.com who is rarely ever wrong... his picks are on point..... he says Cotto has a very good chance versus Martinez.... and the key to defeating Martinez is not pressuring but doing the same thing versus Mayweather.. picking his spots and outboxing him. Martinez will have a field day if Cotto just goes in there like others have...

Either way, we get a good fight...

This is a risk his team had to take. Martinez is clearly on the downside and so is Cotto. This could be a 50/50 fight depending how both show up.

If this fight happens and Martinez isn't completely shot, he will ko Cotto. Terrible move by Cotto. He will be fighting a guy literally 2 weight classes above him.

This should be a good fight. The more I think about it, the better chance I give Cotto. March being "too soon" regarding Canelo says one of two things. Either he got injured and needed additional layoff time and it wasnt publicized, or Freddie has a carefully planned out regimen to thoroughly and responsibly build Cotto into a legit 160 pounder.

Given Freddies well deserved reputation for taking talented fighters to the next level , if its the latter case.. then Sergio had better come back at 100% or we could easily be looking at an upset.

Even at 100% it might be tough. Looking forward to this fight, it could easily be the best match up of 2014.

When he gets hammered by Martinez, Cotto has the exuse to say he was to big for him and so he can call for a Canelo fight at 154 lbs even though he looks like **** against Martinez.

Its not about legacy or having balls, Cotto is basically cashing out and positioning himself for two paydays.

A 50/50 fight? Martinez can show up at less than 50% of health and still beat Cotto.
