In 2013, Matthysse's defeat was probably the most damaging to one's respective career

OP you are talking garbage. Maidana was a one sided ass whupping. Matthysse Vs. Garcia was a competitive fight which Matthysse was winning up until the point that Danny caused the eye to swell. I for one would like to see a rematch at some point in the future as I believe this is still a 50:50 fight.

Definitely. Matthysse's defeat wasn't really that bad because he lost to someone much better than Maidana and had to fight half the fight with one eye. Matthysse actually really impressed me by going the distance. Most guys would have given up or got KO'd if they had to fight Garcia with one eye for that many rounds.

    I agree 1000% ^

Despite Matthysee losing , he proved he was even more dangerous than we all thought .

He showed he does not fold when it comes to adversity , he fought the MAJORITY of the fight with 1 eye and STILL made it a close fight .

Both fighters showed they can hurt each other in this bout.

I dont consider that Knockdown to be legit , Matthysee head got caught behind the tope rope and Garcia took advantage with a flurry and sent him down .

Garcia rightfully won . Yet In a rematch it would be another very close fight without Matthysse getting sent to the matt this time around .

I would actually advise Garcia to NOT entertain a 2nd fight with Lucas .

I can't speak for others but as a reasonable Matthysse fan, i never said he was invincible and i remember calling bs on Shaeffer claiming he was the "new Pacquiao".

Garcia was the underdog for this fight but it turned out he was better than expected.

Damaging? He lost a close fight to a very good fighter and it was affected by an inopportune facial injury. It's less of a damaging setback than it was to get robbed against Devon or Zab.

He still has never been decisively bested in the ring, two losses attributable to bad judging and this last one leaving a lot of unanswered questions between him and Danny because of how much the swelling affected the later rounds and outcome.

Lucas would ko Garcia in a rematch. The odds of getting his eye closed again are slim, and if that does not happen he kos swift in 9 or 10th. This, despite the ref favoring Garcia in every way.

The Knockdown was a result of a punch to the back of the head. watch it again with open eyes.

His career is far from damaged. He wasn't ass beaten like boner was by Madaina.

Again, like many other fighters Matthyse was probably a hyped up fighter who got the attention a little too soon. I like the dude, and I thought the fight with garcia was very entertaining, but as soon as he couldn't hit Garcia or the punched didn't really have any real effect, what was plan B. Many of the fighters have no plan B. They are over hyped by the media to be the next one to defeat Floyd.

This story about beating floyd is getting old. The media should stop placing pressure on guys to be the one to beat him. Let it happen naturally. Dating back to Corrales, Gatti, Oscar, Hatton, Mosley, Matthyse, Canelo, all guys that the media hyped up as possibles to dethrone Floyd, and when it didn't happen, the excuses came out. Matthyse was one of those fighters that everyone wanted to Floyd fight to the point some were actually saying that Floyd would duck him. What happened aftyer the Garcia fight? I didn't hear anymore talk.

In the rematch I would actually favor Matthysse, he seemed to take Garcia's shots better than the other way around. Despite the knock down and eye swelling, Matthysse was a...machine. Danny is a very good fighter, but at the end of the fight, I didn't feel I knew who the better man was. I will be rooting for Danny, and I think we will eventually see them fight 3 times. Truly one of the best fights to be made in boxing!

Don't expect the majority to account for things such as circumstance. That's just silly, man. Silly.
