If Cotto can't be Trout, why does he think he can beat Martinez @ 160?

Unless Martinez is not the same fighter from the long long layoff (which Cotto is hoping for) how can Cotto possibly beat Martinez? He's a lunatic for even taking the fight. He couldn't beat Trout, Martinez hits harder, is faster and more durable then Trout or HE WAS FASTER MORE DURABLE AND HIT HARDER THEN TROUT!? :huh

That's why you got to give cotto props. Dude always fights the best but I agree. Martinez is just too big for cotto. Heck even the version that showed up against murray would beat cotto.

Martinez has had a long lay off to rest and he will come out fresh. Cotto can't beat Martinez boxing therefore cotto's only chance is to put pressure and work maravilla's body. Martinez was able to hold off a damn cruiserweight in chavez jr. what the hell do you think he's going to do to a small JMW.

 

Even though I think Martinez is going to knock Cotto out, gotta respect Cotto for daring to be great, he wants that 4th title in the his 4th division & be the best from Puerto Rico, it looks unlikeley but if he does it he deserves it.

not trying to take the wind out of cotto, but let's call it like it is

 

Cotto will have a solid chance as opposed to Trout because Martinez put's his down a lot, and Cotto has the boxing ability to capitalize on this. And, Martinez depends on his in and out bounce to keep his opponent out of rhythm, this won't work near as well given the patient timing ability of Cotto, it may it even turn into a favorable factor for Cotto. This is a completely different fight than the stable standing, patient, and high defense of Trout.

 

Well lets see how he does with Roach in his corner now ..

There are not even close to the same fighter. Trout has a great jab, in his prime, good defense.

Martinez hits harder, cant say hes faster and hes not more durable.

Martinez has no defense and keeps his hands down all the time. Martinez has never fought anybody close to what Cotto is. Cotto has fought better fighters then Martinez (Mayweather). Yes there will be a size difference but usually skill beats that, (Martinez-Chavez, Mayweather Canelo)

Martinez has been down plenty of times and really hasnt showed me top skills since he beat Paul. and Murray just beat the crap out of him so for people to say Cotto has no shot u gots to be crazy!!

Im putting $2000 on Cotto by KO!! Martinez will be running for his life and Cotto comes bullying in, and with them body shots Martinez will fall. Cotto will eat some but his defense is way better then Martinez and Roach will have a great gameplan, and at MSG on the eve of puerto Rican day and u think Cotto gonna lose that??? HELL NAH!!

i think they're both about shot. wouldn't venture a guess as to which one has more in the tank now. the size difference is negligible.
