Wlad dosn't have the physical strength to tie up smaller guys and has to jump onto them to be sure they won't out-muscle him. Sanders had no problem bullying Wlad inclose and Peters threw him off him with ease. Both those guys weren't known for their athletic ability. Wlads protien shake physical strength is nothing compared to a circus strong man who could push a train. Louis wasn't getting tied up because not only had he supreme physical strength himself but knew how to punch out of the clinch and work his way out of the clinch. When Joe got his hands free inside he ripped combinations on guys that would put Wlad to sleep.
:rofl Russell Crowe had to go through months of training in order to effectively use a longbow when he played Robin Hood , and he ain't no dweeb.
Louis had the jab to to land from the outside to create openings to stun him with a right hand. How could it be so hard for Louis to close the gap when every guy Wlad ever faced found they're way inside. A feat even a nothing man like Mormeck was able to achieve repeatedly.
When is Klitschko going to have a title fight against opponents who have 3-3 and 0-0 records ( just like the Old Timers did )?
Terrible mismatch. Really unfair to Joe Louis. He'd have little chance, giving up 50 lbs and 7 inches in height. Just for sake of comparison, this is akin to Floyd fighting a LHW champion.
Louis could beat a really big man like Timo Hoffmann, Kevin McBride, Tyson Fury but a talented big man is a different story.
its not about 'could', its about 'did'. not sure why you make it about could when its fact. he did beat big men, an example being the big man Carnera who won the undisputed HW title of the world.
Actually, it's not quite as bad a size mismatch as you make it out to be. Wlad's only 4 inches taller, and has 5 inches on Joe in reach. Significant disadvantages, but Louis overcame guys with similar physical advantages. If Wlad were to win such a match-up, it would have less to do with size and more to do with skill and an ability to implement a successful game plan.
It's ridiculous that Wlad is winning this poll and by such a large margin. I hope those votes are meant for sarcasm.
The same Wladimir that HAS to absolutely hold on because he has a glass chin? If Wlad didn't hold on or was not allowed to hold on against the limited Povetkin, he would have been knocked out...AGAIN. He fights that way because he's scared, but his opposition is so limited, they are incapable of fighting him on the inside. The heavyweight scene is like what most of boxing was not too long ago. There were very few fighters that actually knew **** about boxing. There has been an emergence of guys that can actually fight though, but the sport still lacks competent infighters. Louis could get inside, would get inside, and when he hit Wlad, Wlad would get be on his hands and knees, crawling all over the floor. Primo Carnera by far looks the most like Klitschko on film. They have the exact same stance, and are almost discernible in the quality film shown in the Louis vs Carnera fight. If you told me that was a poor quality film version of Wladimir Klitschko, I would be inclined to believe it, but I would also be skeptical because Wlad is afraid to throw uppercuts, due to his fragile chin. Additionally, Louis never had trouble with big and strong guys. Abe Simon was solidly built, most likely, naturally stronger than Wlad, yet Louis handled him with ease, and Buddy Baer used his size and durability to try to wear down the much smaller Louis, but it didn't work. Klitschko LACKS durability. If Wlad had an iron chin, his chances rise exponentially, but he doesn't, which is why he eventually gets blasted out. Think about it like this, Chambers, a limited, squared up, powerless boxer managed to go damn near 12 full rounds with this guy. Louis was a devastating puncher, and had serious handspeed, especially in combination. Wlad would eventually get caught and knocked out. Vitali who resembles Williard has a much better shot. Wlad would get KNOCKED OUT. Deal with it.
