This film has been around for a decade but the family has kept it to themselves and a few others. Im working with them on a project right now and I would suggest you remove this before they find out. Unless they have given you permission to post it.
Who are with holding historical footage. Footage thaat was initially made for public viewing. They may own the hard copy, but they do not own the actually footage.:good
To my knowledge footage of this fight was shown publicly before. I know that for sure and I can give you sources if you want. I paid for a copy of this fight and to my knowledge - the person I bought it from has the right to have this fight in his collection. So - I uploaded this video as an unlisted link (which cannot be found on youtube), the video is unnamed, and I posted it only here because I knew the 20 or 30 people in the history section would like it. You have my email address + name (when I paid for your book) - if the family really is upset with me posting this here, they can contact me (or just file a copyright claim on youtube - which may or may not work), and I will take it down.
You've been pretty clear in the past that you can do whatever you want with films you acquire in keeping with agreements made with your source. Bala can do the same. You're not the film police. Thanks for posting this man.
No, fukk him, he holds no authority ..... he cried like a baby when the Langford-Jeannette footage was brought to peoples attention on here a while back!
If memory serves there was some back and forth between Clay and Klompton on the airing of the Langford vs Jeannette match. I have told the board such a film existed for years. The best policy when trading for fights that you do not want shows is a no trade or airing clause. Otherwise you tube is fair game
It's unrealistic in this day and age to expect any of this NOT to surface eventually anyhow. Too many means to get it out there. It's not as if they had "creative control" over it and own the rights to it. If they did, different story, but.......... Nice find, Baclava, thank you.
Damn straight I did. Because I spent a lot of time and effort to find that film and bring in the people necessary to have it transferred and archived. Myself and those people spent several thousand dollars to acquire it and when someone comes on here posting it for free and claiming to have "found" it it not only pisses me off for taking credit for something they didnt even come close to doing but it also completely devalues the possibility of doing anything with it. Mendoza and whoever else can come on here and claim they "knew" that film existed. Bull****. When I found that film it was not catalogued and had never been transferred from nitrate, EVER. Jim Jacobs didnt know about it, Bill Cayton didnt know about it, Steve Lott didnt know about it, and neither did any other collector in the world. I spent a fortune just on telephone calls alone at 3am in the morning to France through a translator negotiating all of this. So yeah, when I see that the family of Kilbane who have been good enough to preserve Johnny's legacy yet who have kept some of this to themselves (which is their right) get the shaft like this then its bull****. It doesnt have anything to do with who owns the rights to it it has to do with what is right by them. And people wonder why others keep their stuff from ever seeing the light of day:-( One person spends a fortune on something and the next guy trades it around like its worth nothing more than a bubble gum card.
