After Wlad's last fight I'm surprised every boxing fan in the world isn't a Klitshcko hater. Been watching boxing for 40 years and I never saw such crap from a heavyweight champion ever, and that includes Ruiz who I thought had the grab and hold market covered.
In fairness, Lewis utilized a similar style and had a devoted fan base throughout his career. But if he had held onto Tua with such frequency as Wlad did against Povetkin, he'd have been crucifucked; and rightfully so.
With Lewis, he was head and shoulders above the rest of the competition in a much better era. Lewis showed he had more strings to his bow(e). He could put on clinics Tua, Holyfield. Or he could fight in wars Briggs, Mercer, Vitali or he could just straight out destroy decent fighters very quickly, Golota, Ruddock etc. Wlad will not be fondly remembered and he will not be regarded as Lewis has after he retired. Even though Wlad fans try to make him like some sort of Lewis v.2.0 which he is not. Wlad seems scared to engage, whereas Lewis, was more cool, calculated and if he had to, he was more than willing to get his hands dirty.
Not to the same extent as Wlad-Povetkin. And Lewis actually made a point of getting Tyson out of there.
Lewis could be slightly boring too sometimes and he was reticent in certain fights. He was not flawless, just like any fighter isn't. The difference for me though truly, is that Lewis looked pretty good and rose to the occasion when he had to. Versus the power-punching Ruddock...blasted the guy clean out in two rounds, engaged in trench warfare with the tough Ray Mercer, dug deep and came up with a win (albeit slightly fortuitously) against Vitali, blew Grant and Golota out easily, out-hooked the hooker Tommy Morrison, the return match against Rahman where he landed that monster right hand...these were all impressive displays, and I could name more. Wlad has some nice wins too, particularly early in his career, where he displayed some pretty good skills. But since the knockout losses...he's good, but he's just not inspiring in any way. At least, I don't think so.
Vitali is fine, it's just Wladimir who does nothing but jab and grab against weak opposition. so stop putting as one just because they're brothers.
:huh you definitely watched a different fight to me then. a couple of clinches in the first round due to Tyson bum rushing Lewis, but then Lewis got his timing down and beat the **** out of Tyson. :deal Wlad grabs in every fight countless times. not because he's being rushed at by his opponent, but because he's a little ***** with little talent.
We know you do, but I don't believe he will be knocked out in 2014. Certainly the bigots that are his obsessive haters would then be his fans.
