Maidana beating Broner was not an upset!

It just opened up the eyes of all you ******ed critics, I saw Broner's defeat coming the moment the fight was announced

I'd have to go with Mares-Gonzalez. Not only was Mares a top 10-15 pfp fighter, near his peak, coming off several impressive victories but Gonzalez seemed like a fighter who was probably past his best.

I thought Stevenson-Dawson was a big upset but I was really surprised to see Gonzalez ko Mares, especially in 1 round.

    :thumbsup

The manner of the loss has to be taken into account, too. Broner may've gotten beat up pretty good, but he had a few moments and lasted the distance. Mares just got destroyed.

lol why does it anger you so much?

Maidana was the massive underdog, and is a very average basic slow gatekeeper, most thought it was a cherry pick

Broner just proved to be a fraud, no wonder he fought such weak opposition

However if Broner had let his hands go I reckon he would have won, it aint rocket science to beat Maidana, Devon Alexander won every round against him and made him lok like a bum, and Alexander aint much is he.

Broner fought 4 fights in 2012. 2 of those fights were defensives of his 130lb title and the other 2 were fighters at 135. Anybody with any common sense could see Maidana would be a dangerous fight for Broner. People just called it a cherry pick in order to diss Broner.

Everybody thought Mares was going to win. It wasn't even a question. Mares was in the p4p list and had just beat Ponce De Leon, Moreno, Erice Morel, Agbeko, and Darchinyan.

He goes into the fight and just gets completely sparked in one round. Like I said, this site if full of dumbasses

Yes it was a dangerous fight but I sure as hell didn't expect it to be as dangerous as proven. Clearly you can see major improvements in Maidana's fighting style. I expected him to fight as he usually did, throwing wild punches, barely timing and going forward face first. In this fight he was mostly calculating his attacks, his timing was different than it used to be and you can clearly see he's there to win no matter what. From the opening bell he had Broner backing off and overwhelmed completely. I sure as hell didn't expect Maidana to overwhelm him like that and completely take over the fight from the start.

yeah I feel you on that. I liked what I saw from Maidana starting at the Jesus Soto Karass fight. Robert Garcia really fine tuned his technique and now he's fighting a lot smarter

From the list Gonzalez KO1 Mares, but really Vetyeka TKO6 John.

Maidana UD Broner wasn't even an upset for me, cause I slightly favored Maidana. And the "slightly" part was because I expected the judges to help Broner out.

Honestly those aren't even great options. Of them, give me Tony T, I guess... even though I picked.

I feel Gonzo stopping Mares was the Upset of the Year but another one that shocked me, and flew a little under the radar, was Thabisco Mchunu dominating Eddie Chambers.
