There is no choice in the poll, just No and Hell No. I think Cotto Vs. Martinez or Golovkin would be a very interesting fight. I think Cotto will get knocked out by either fighter, but it would be interesting.........

he's fought everyone so he deserves a shot as much as anyone else but he doesn't really belong up at middleweight considering sergio, golovkin, sturm & quillin should be fighting each other to bring clarity to the division.

you weren't very imaginative or brought much clarity with your poll either, btw.

**** outta here with that "he's fought everyone" BS. He fought a bunch of welters and lost to several of them. MW is a completely different world. Cotto has done absolutely nothing to deserve a title shot at 160.

If Martinez is even 80% of what he used to be, he'll beat Cotto within an inch of his life. However, if Martinez is shot to pieces and his legs are gone, then Cotto might actually have a chance to win - which he shouldn't. It would devalue the lineal MW title. And for what? So that Martinez could continue ducking real competition? Martinez has been ducking and dodging real competition at MW for years now.

As for the poll, the numbers don't lie. :yep

i said he doesn't belong at MW since the 'champions' should be fighting each other, but he deserves a shot about as much as any non-middleweight. your poll numbers don't lie but they don't say much of anything either. if you can't comprehend that there's no sense in explaining it to you.

Martinez deserves a tune up after being out injured for so long & facing Williams, Pavlik, Barker, Macklin, Chavez Jr & Murray consecutively, plus it'll be a fun fight while it lasts.
It's ok as long as he faces GGG next.

i'd agree he does after being injured but that list of opponents while having name recognition isn't exactly a murderers row. martinez has made guys look a lot better than they are, imo.

As Clint so eloquently put it in Unforgiven,"...deserves got nothing to do with it." Cotto is big business and Martinez only has a couple fights left. Rubio will get his shot at the winner and everybody'll be happy.

Why not?. Cotto always fights everyone and both him and Martinez deserve the payday.

Cotto couldn't make it at junior middle or welterweight anymore. He shouldn't even be marketable at this point.
