Vlad was KTFO by a member of the PGA:rofl Not to mention the dreaded Ross Purrity....LOL At least Joe could get off the canvas and win.:hi:
purity, sanders and the other guy would be perfect fodder for bum of the month club. although I do think Wlad is a serious handful for Louis, and its not clear cut completely who wins but edge to Louis without a doubt. respect to wlad for fantastic longevity but the pedigree of skill is very different.
More to the point, Jesse Owens gold medal time was 10.3. In the 2012 Summer Olympics not a single runner, save for Asafa Powell who got injured during the race, finished above 10.00. Everyone who didn't tear their abductor muscle in the race finished sub-10. To expand on that even further, Trindon Holliday, who isn't even an Olympic level track competitor, is nearly 4 tenths of a second faster than Jesse Owens, while outweighing him by 12 pounds. Jacoby Ford, also not an Olympic level track competitor is 3 tenths of a second faster than Owens, and outweighs him by 25 pounds.
Wouldn't the more apt comparison be with another elite level athlete? The argument is very simple, at the highest level the athletes of today are better conditioned than the athletes of yesterday. The idea that time has stood still in boxing and boxing alone is laughable.
Put them in steel cleats..take away the starting blocks...and put them on a cinder track...and I bet NONE of them would beat Jesse's time.:deal
Lewis also lost to bums twice, foreman was outboxed by jimmy young, tyson lost every time he stepped up.
as laughable as the idea that everything has improved absolutely. everything fluctuates, this is the only pattern you can read in history.
So do you think guys like Haye, Wlad and Peter have better stamina than guys like Louis, Ali and Frazier?
Boxing has gone backwards... The bob n' weave style is gone from the HW division and nearly extinct in the other divisions. The best heavies don't even have the stanima to go 12 rounds let alone 15.
1. McCall and Rahaman were not bums. 2. Lewis didn't have the luxury of having a big brother to rematch them for him so did it himself and beat them both.
All that doesn't add seven tenths of a second to someone's time. What about the marathon? You have to get all the way down to 76th place at the 2012 Olympics to find someone who ran it in the same time as the winner of the 1936 Olympics.
