Ilunga Makabu is arguably the hardest puncher at cruiserweight.

He has great punch resistance too, I know Dmitry Kucher is a big puncher and Makabu took his best shots.

Nathan Cleverly is moving up to cruiserweight after his KO loss to Sergey Kovalev and in his first fight in that division on Feb 2 is scheduled to fight Makabu. I can't think of a worse career move for him.

Cleverly is a good fighter and right now he still has potential. But he will not be able to come back from two consecutive KO losses. This will be the end of him.

He hits hard enough to get Cleverly out of there though. Is this fight actually confirmed?, i haven't heard anything official. It's a really bad idea i feel as even if he wins he won't get much credit and well obviously there is the danger of him getting brutalized for a second fight in a row.

He's lazy though! He might be hard hitting but he takes rounds off, he's no Kovalov, as long as Clev uses his footwork and bounces in and out of range, he can take the decision. Also has anyone seen Makabu's footwork? He is a plodder, all Cleverly has to do is not go to war and use his jab, and the fight is his.

Sucha relevant post with this fight being confirmed.....Cleverly moved up after getting destroyed then picks big puncher in division above, this is ridiculous he hasn't got the chin to get him through trying to outbox this fighter.

I wonder if he isn't having career doubts. Frank seems to be throwing caution to the wind of late in putting him in sink or swim bouts. Total opposite to what went on before Kovalev.

Makubu hasn't exactly been in with top opposition so Nathan could have a better chance than many are giving him.
