If size, reach and weight mean nothing, could prime DLH beat prime Tyson?

There was an interesting discussion in one of the "classic" vs. "modern" HWs threads. One of the general arguments is that although classic HWs were 40-60 lbs lighter and had 4-8 inches less in height and reach that doesn't really put them at an advantage, but it's "all down to skill". We're told physical parameters mean little.

So if that's true, can a prime ODH beat a prime Mike Tyson?

    ODH
    height 5′ 10½″
    weight 147 in 1998
    reach 73″

    Tyson
    height 5′ 10″
    weight 210 in 1988
    reach 71″

There is no doubt ODH is the far more skilled boxer. According to the "classic nuthead" theory he should be able to outbox and overcome the 60 lbs weight differential purely with his toughness, his skill and will power :rofl

Chris Byrd was a former middleweight who gave away 7 inches in height, 5 inches in reach and 40lbs in weight to Vitali and made him quit.

But as for ODH vs Tyson, no Tyson would win obviously.

Why? If weight means absolutely nothing?

An old man had that cross dressing *** curled up on the canvas like a stuck pig. WTF do you think Tyson would have done to him?

I think Tyson would destroy him in 30 seconds.

But the ESB classic nutheads are telling us the 185 lbs HWs from 100 years ago would be competitive with modern day SHWs weighting 250 lbs :rofl

LOL, who says that size is irrelevant?
The Klits owe their heavyweight reign solely on their height, weight, and reach advantage, PLUS the decades of steroid use.

It makes a huge difference when combined with a little to some athleticism.

Let's see Floyd take on a solid LHW or CW and fight exactly the way he does in every other fight.

Well, tell ya what, instead of ridiculing Classic from afar, why not go in there and share your epiphany with them? :think

Some people cling so hard to the Golden ages (because the best hws back then were American) that they refuse to face logic, ofcourse weight means a great deal, a lot of the old great hws would be cruisers nowaday, and claiming they could succeed against todays hws is just trying... Funny at the same time people are arguing the Klitschkos are too big in todays hw era, and we should get a super heavyweight division lmao.

He got lucky as hell against Vitali, and one fight doesn't prove a lot anyway, I can mention his drooling-all-over-the-place performance against Ike or how Wlad crushed him.

Of course size makes a difference. That's why there are weight classes. Skill, intelligence, athleticism etc also play a part. Jones Jr beat Ruiz, Haye beat Valuev, W.Klitschko got TKO'd by smaller guys etc

because everything else does mean something.

I only mention it just in case that hadn't occurred to you in your lifetime yet.

Man have you not seriously gone to a gym and seen naturally smaller fighters not only be "competitive", but destroy larger fighters? Duran, Chavez, RJJ, SRL, Tyson, Fitzsimmons, Walker, Foster, Charles, etc? Don't ring a bell? Just look at the losses both Klits have they obviously from smaller fighters are they not?
