Really? You think the guys Wlad has been facing are that much better than former great HW's like Louis, Ali etc?
You also realize that Corrie Sanders - thanks to his amateur golfing career - had one of the fastest left straights in boxing history :rofl
Ali would easily outbox Louis. The sport has evolved tremendously between the 20s and 60s/70s. I wouldn't ever both them in the same bucket.
Most classic boxers had no specific preparation routine at all, outside of sparring. There was no nutrition cycle leading up to fight night either. It find it hilarious how people point out "how much better the classic guys stamina was", yet 1920s Olympic marathon runners took 2:50 hours and modern day elite runners run it in 2:15 hours. How's that for the stamina theory? :rofl It is painfully obvious that with modern day nutrition and preparation classic athletes would never even come close to modern day stamina results.
Of course Ali would be competitive in today's era. The sport has evolved form the late 60s, early 70s. But not as much as from from Dempsey's & Louis' era. Liston/Ali/Foreman would trash Dempsey and Louis. Modern day SHWs would absolutely **** Dempsey and Louis in pathetic, one-sided beatdowns.
Oh, and since we talked about Tony Galento and Max Baer. Wait, what was it? "Galento throws one of the best left hooks in HW history" or "The Baer brothers are more skilled than the K brothers". Well have a look, Galento vs. Baer, nicknamed "battle of the bums". Watch the video, I was literally on the edge of my seat laughing, this is pure comedy: [yt]i2DWswsfpmI[/yt] These guys would be qualified as primitive bar fighters today.
You know nothing. Name who is a better welter than Robinson today? Who today is a better MW than Hagler? Who is a better LW than Duran? Who is a better LHW than Ezzard Charles? Why are Ali and Louis the beat HW's of all time? You watch this sport for the wrong reasons and can't see or understand technique. That is why you siad Frazier had an amateur like left hook and he would be beaten by Chisora.
I think louis would be competitive vs those guys and many of the other guys competing in todays HW division. This basically proves that it's not as simple as 'modern boxers are always better than past generations'
Because Joe didn't need to win 4 belts FFS theirs a reason we have less undisputed champions now not one in boxing currently, because with all the politics you can't win the 4 belts. Joe louis won 1 belt Wlad has won 3, Wlad has achived the same as Joe both were the Heavyweight world champion.
Much as I think some fans are being unfair to Joe; this is a good point. From the time he defeated a then-reigning WBA champion in Chagaev, he's been acknowledged as the de facto champion and he finally earned full lineal recognition after defeating Povetkin. Wlad's claim to supremacy over the division shouldn't be questioned.
