Is that why he was the home fighter in a comp where every other original entrant fought away, why he wasnt after Bute straight after the S6, why he hasnt fought Froch in the UK

Dawson moaned that he was "told to say that" about challenging Ward @ 168, it was on his Twitter two weeks after he lost to Ward... HBO didn't want Ward to move up because of the aura he had and still has at 168.

Some posters in this thread are right about Ward losing leverage as time goes on, at least while he's at 168. If he were to go up to 175 and beat a titleholder or two, then Golovkin needs to listen up and go to California. Otherwise, Golovkin @ MSG is becoming a commodity and does a lot better than Ward in his own backyard as far as ratings go.

We might have to wait until 2015 for this. By the time Golovkin gets a torch passing fight with Martinez and by the time Ward beats Stevenson or Kovalev or the winner of a fight between those two, it'll be late 2014. Golovkin-Ward might end up being at a 170 catchweight.

Andre Ward is bigger and better at everything inside a boxing ring than Golovkin. If Golovkin wanted a tough fight he would have signed to take on Andre Ward.

    He don't want that fight.

Sergey Kovalev is bigger, stronger and nearly as fluid inside a boxing ring as Ward. If Ward wanted a tough fight he would have signed to take on Sergey Kovalev.

    He don't want that fight.

He personally boycotted Lucian Bute, the #1 SMW in the world atm, from entering the S6.
Bute was only not invited due to HBO refusing him to fight for Showtime.
Bute fulfilled his HBO obligation and signed with Showtime to enter the tournament as an alternate. When the spot came open to fight in the tournament, Ward and G0053N vetoed Bute's entry. All the other fighters and promoters wanted Bute and his IBF belt and #1 ranking to be included. To have the unique opportunity to fight the best SMW. Only Ward balked.

After the S5, super 5 because #1 was not included, Ward with his little win, had the chance for a CAREER payday, more than doubling his largest purse. He turned it down. PERIOD.

Ward fears Bute....still does in fact.

And he fears Kovalev and he fears GGG.

    Ward> all 3.:deal

Is this true with regards to the S6? Do you have a source?

    Nice deflection.

GG is older than Ward and is still being matched like he's a 19 y/o prospect:D

GG's handlers said he'd fight anybody from 154 to 168.They kept their word on the little guys but punked out on the bigger ones.

K-2 productions aren't about taking chances and GG sure isn't the most ambitious guy in the sport...that's fine by his fans because they don't want to see him challenged.

I found and posted the source when the Ward nuthuggers got on me 2 yrs ago.

It was in the original language of the S6 contracts that ALL remaining particpants had to agree upon alternates, and G0053n, on behalf of Ward, vetoed.

Froch, Kessler, and Abe WANTED Bute.....Dirrel agreed to him, but in the end the other 4 settled for Green after G0053N made it happen.

Is what it is, but in the end, Ward avoided Bute by fighting Bika and Green instead, and then hid from Bute after the tournament and hit the mega lottery when Bute froze on Froch's stage.

When Bute dominates Pascal this month......Ward will be called out AGAIN.

    And AGAIN.....Ward will duck.

You really have no idea how boxing economics work, do you? K2 pulled a coup just getting Golovkin on HBO in the first place.

GGG should stay away from this fight. Ward will just smother him on the inside.

who would want to see that ****? and what would be the point?

    ugly fight.

Probably one big reason why fight isnt actively in the works yet. (that and Ward promotional issues)

GGG already a bigger draw than Ward, GGG team apparently planning on moving up in weight in approx a year if cant get MW lineal fight.

Boxing follows the golden rule - who has the gold makes the rules, and despite Wards p4p status by the time the fight is made GGG will be able to dictate most of the terms. Fight will be at 168, but it will be at MSG likely with Dock reffing.

Golovkin can generate his power at point blank range, and with either hand - Ward wont take fight inside. He will try to outbox and potshot without getting caught. Which I currently give him about a 60% chance of being successful at doing.
