...watching JMM and MAB, it's exciting to watch great fighters duke it out, what great boxing skills . You can watch it over and over but still get excited. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqKfih67fTU How would rate this fight is it more exciting compared to today's fights? Why..:smoke
JMM v MAB is one of my favourite fights of all time. MAB put in one last excellent performance and put up an excellent fight.
Froch vs Groves Bradley vs Provodnikov Garcia vs Matthysse Broner vs Maidana Jones vs Lebedev Alvarado vs Rios Alvarado vs Provodnikov Froch vs Kessler II All those, and whatever else I'm missing/forgetting, were great exciting fights that took place this year. All those talks about "before was better" are pure nonsense because even back then we had people like you praising events/fights that took place 5+ years prior.
For starters, the entire highlight reel is the equivalent of just one round in Pac-JMM 4. That's not even debatable. Then there's Bradley-Provo. Rigo-Darchinyan. Broner-Maidana. Alvarado-Rios. etc. etc. TBF, this was the fight where I started to really like JMM though.
Action wise there's been better fights by both guys and by others in recent years, but I really think this was one of the best two way technical battles of the past 10 years. Two ATG's showing elite skills while going to war. Comparing it to Alvarado/Rios or the like does it a disservice.
Barrera was lucky he faced Marquez when he (MAB) was in the latter part of his career. This fact made him the sentimental favorite, and knowing that, forced Marquez to fight in beast mode, overly aggressive coming foward. In the leadup to the fight, both he and Nacho pointed out that Marquez could not afford to sit back in his usual countermode and let just MAB sit back just jabbing and making the fight uneventful. Team Marquez knew any uneventful round would go the sentimental favorite way. Marquez beat him clearly while in beast mode, and would have boxed MAB's ears off earlier in MAB's career where he may not have been the sentimental favorite. Marquez aggressive and in beast mode actually gives MAB openings he otherwise would not have had. Marquez simply the better fighter and he's proven it over the years.
..barrera gave JMM one hell of a fight , definitely better to watch than what Floyd and Pac is giving us right now
How so? MAB lost wide on every judges card. 118-109, 116-111, and 116-111. In almost every case a fight judge will give a close round to the sentimental favorite which was MAB in this case, and he still lost wide on ever judges card.
