Is something I expect from casual viewers but I find that stance to be shockingly prevalent on here as well. On ESB, untested punchers are usually hyped up more than untested or in some cases even tested boxers who are not known to pack a huge punch, it's ridiculous.

History has proven without a shadow of a doubt the talented boxer will have a more successful career in 9 out of 10 cases. Why do people keep forgetting that?

What untested punchers? I have no idea what you're talking about. Untested slicksters get overhyped more often from what I've seen.

Chaves who did reasonably well vs Thurman is hyped on here beat no body except get Ko'ed vs Thurman yet SOME on here say he is better than the other 2 Argentine punchers in Lucas and Maidana.

I have a feeling you are talking about Golovkin.. The thing is that he isn't just a puncher, he has very good boxing skills, just look at his amateur record, he isn't getting hype purely because of his punching power.

I actually made this thread with Kirkland in mind. There are dozen other examples though.

crazy if anyone thinks golovkin is all hype.

his punching power is not just on pure power. he sets them up really well and hides them too.

you dont know what punch is the hard one.

he will do 1-2 with the 2 as the power punch.

he will do 1-2-3 with 3 as the power punch.

or he wil do 1-1-1 all power punches.

or 1-2-3 with nothing on them.

he has good power on both hands, it is really hard which punch to look out to.

    crazy stuff.

can he do this on a martinez (assuming martinez is as good as ever)? maybe not as well as he did vs. others, but i think he beats martinez at this point in their careers.

i think martinez has slowed down a lot.

All fighters start off fighting easy/simple opposition.

If "untested" people dont start getting hype, how else are they supposed to get selected/marketable for the "big fights" where they get tested?

I dont get why some people think hyping up an exciting or apparently skilled up and comer is a bad thing. Forming an opinion that the hype recipient might lose to so-and-so is all fine and well and good, but some people like to hate on folks who are interested in fighters who dont yet have HOF career on paper and I dont get that.

i can understand skepticism about brawlers with power but the denial of Golovkins talent is just bias, jealousy or boxing ignorance.

I guess it's better to ignore GG's pitiful resume than accept any criticism of his meager accomplishments and duckage of Ward.
Hating on Mayweather is definately based on envy:deal

This is a standart esb practice. When a contender ko artist knocks out two or three bums and a name has been, he becomes automatically unbeatable and able to Ko any p4p proven fighter, and ko everyone in fantasy matchups.

Then they step un in class and get hopelessly outboxed

    Rinse and repeat
