Even if u think Mayweather isnt a 154 fighter, thats the weight they fought and thats the closest fight Mayweather has been in since Castillo. with that defense that Cotto go thru, compared to no defense Martinez, Cotto is gonna have alot of chances to rock martinez's world

because chavez is a legit 160 as opposed to cotto being a legit 147.

prime sergio is capable of throwing 700 to 900 punches a fight whereas cotto throws 400-500...at jmw.

Cant argue with that. Im just arguing with people saying Cotto has no shot or only has a shot if Martinez is shot. i dont see. martinez has been down more then any other champ i seen lately, dont know how Cotto doesnt at least drop him once.

    Martinez is better than Cotto.

But Martinez looked like a fighter who has become an old man in his last two fights. He doesn't have that same dynamic handspeed anymore, it looks like has trouble pulling the trigger as well, which is a clear sign of a shot old fighter.

Martinez will be 39 years old going into the fight

You don't have to be an expert 2 guys on the down side of their career one is a middle the other is a welter common sense going with the bigger, stronger fighter.

none of those fights matter, its Cotto vs Martinez.

Martinez has been knocked down in 4 of his last 5 fights or something like that. why u ask?? Because he keeps his hands down. Cotto will drop him again no doubt, not sure if he can finish him off.

Im still dropping $2000 on Cotto by KO, gonna be a good summer and bump this thread for u goof balls while i chill at the beach :rasta

True, we don't know how they will show up, but we know that:

1- Martinez is a proper middleweight, with a huge reach, comparable to a light heavyweight one.

2- Cotto is really short for a middleweight, and at middle he doesn't have stamina and a reach under the average.

3 - Martinez's stamina is insane, it's not a case that he was a cyclist until his 20s.

4- Martinez's skills, determination, bravado and willness are enough to make him demolish a light heavyweight opponent in the ring (not a very skilled one, but still); he's not called "maravilla" for nothing.

5- he's still the middleweight linear champion, unlike Cotto that has never been a good, let alone great, middleweight.

6- The chin. Martinez took light heavy's blows for 12 rounds, without being even wobbled. Only tireness made him vulnerable. No middleweight ever seriously hurt him, ever. Cotto will have difficulties to even land clean, a knock out is totally out of the question.

So, all we have makes to think that it will be a demolition job, a one sided match in favour of the Maravilla, for faded he may be. Cotto took the fight only for the payday.
Respect to him, hes a brave warrior, but he never had business at middle.

And Chavez rehydrated up close to 175-180 lbs... That's a light heavyweight/cruiserweight.

    Good Post :good

Only thing I disagree is a KO is totally out of the question. Martinez has been down more then any other champ these days. i see no reason why Cotto cant drop him either.
