Olympic bronze medal winner Anthony Ogogo (4-0,2 ko's) is looking for a break out year in 2014. The middleweight prospect hopes to fight on Floyd Mayweather vs Amir Khan undercard in Las Vegas - if and when the fight is finalised. And by the end of the year he wants to fight for the British or Commonwealth title. First he will return on Febuary 15th as part of Jonny Gonzales-Abner Mares undercard at the Staples centre in Los Angeles. Ogogo said: " I have mapped out a plan for the first six months of the year or so starting in Febuary 15th in L.A. Then i hope to fight back here in London before going out again on the Mayweather-Khan card when that is confirmed. By the end of the year i would like to be stepping up to 10 and 12 round fights with a domestic title round my waist". After Ogogo's last fight earlier this month at the Excel Arena in London Spencer Oliver of Sky Sports said Ogogo should be held back, but Glen McGrory said he should be stepped up. Will Ogogo be held back or let loose in 2014??
Not sure he has the power to keep top fighters from walking through him. You dont have to have ko power but you need to hit hard enough to keep an opponant away
i do wonder if this decision to fight in the early hours of the morning on yank undercards is the best decision for Ogogo. i think he should have stayed in the UK and bulid a fan base up over here
held back or let loose... hopefully somewhere in the middle. Feb 15th in L.A vs some American journeyman April in London vs some English Jorneyman May 3rd in Las Vegas vs an American prospect Aug in London vs someone like Patrick Mendy/ Kerry Hope Dec in London vs Billy Joe Saunders for British/Commenwealth Title
ive been saying this for a while but most people tend to disagree would love to see oggogo v eubank jr this year
Who would you have in mind for the Journeyman and American prospect? Patrick Mendy and Kerry Hope would be good tests for later on in the year, but i cant see Billy Joe Saunders still at domestic level come the end of next year.
Great fight mate and that would be a easy fight to sell as well. It would more likely be in 2015, but if B.J Saunders vacates the titles near the end of the year then who knows?
for the journeyman, Grady Brewster maybe. Prospect, hmmm, really don't know. Yes by the end of the year BJS would have probably vacated, moved up or moved on.
No Ogogo is very average he didn't win that bronze medal he was handed it because of the worst decision of the games. He hasn't got real power nor has he the skills to make much of an impact IMO he is massively overhyped their are at least 10 or more better prospects in the UK then him, he won't go beyond Euro level.
How about something like this. Feb 15th in L.A vs Russell Jordan or Lajuan Simon mar/Apr in London vs Lee Noble or Steve Bendall May 3rd in Vegas vs Grady Brewer or Bronco McKart Aug/Sep in London vs Patrick Mendy or Martin Concepcion Dec in London vs Liam Cameron or Prince Arron Or if he was to be fast tracked Then. Feb 15th in L.A vs Grady Brewer or Bronco McKart Mar/Apr in London vs David Brophy or Tyan Booth May 3rd in Vegas vs Derrick Finley or Darryll Cunningham Aug/Sep in London vs Eamonn O'Kane or Patrick Mendy Dec in London for Domestic title vs Nick Blackwell or Chris Eubank Jnr?
