Wikipedia says it was to focus on his promotional company. I guess 1 year was for the (unspecified) injury and the other was for the company, eh?

And, gosh darn it, wasn't it a shame that Floyd took so long to heal that he had to announce his comeback 3 weeks after Paul Williams moved up to middleweight. I'm sure he was crushed that he was denied the opportunity to give fans that fight.

Ah... Floyd and his flemmings. Truly a student of goebbles. Keep telling a lie until it considered as true.

And again only one who knows the truth about floyd retirement and that's floyd himself.

Haters keep saying he ducked margarito, cotto, williams, but it sounds ****** because everyone knows floyd choose de la hoya over margarito and hatton was way more popular than margo and cotto.and also top rank fighters.haters keep denying that.and after de la hoya and hatton who the **** want to fight nonames with small purse?really?i would also take a vacation because WW division was sinking fast.actually now 2014 it looks same as early 2000 RED HOT.

Margo defended his title against arum handpicked c-class opponents, cotto was never offered the floyd fight.wise move by arum.and finally we have williams who only was known by hardcore fan's.
There was no reasons to keep fighting injured, better to take a vacation and wait till WW is again hot.

Now we have 140-147 Marquez, pacquaio, bradley, provodnikov, rios, alvarado in top rank and gbp mayweather, broner, maidana, malignaggi, khan, mathysse, garcia, peterson, thurman, alexander, porter and in england we have brook.

The talent pool right now is amazing compared to 2007-2008 when we have only couple of good fighters and nobody would have given floyd good payday after de la hoya and hatton, haters keep denying the fact margarito was with arum and never was draw at that point, and cotto was never offered the match, and was also with arum.only choice would have been Williams but it would have not make good numbers on PPV.so logical choice was going to take a rest and let the world wait your return.mosley don't even bring up him.ducked floyd numerous times.there was nobody to fight!

Really good choice by floyd, career wise, money and repairing your body.

Most of the greatest fighters to ever walk the planet have losses on their records because they chose fight over flight. Floyd as great as he is and he is damn great but he's a pu**y

    Paul Williams - too big.

    Pacquioa - steroids.

    Cotto - not popular enough.

    Mosley - still dangerous.

    Marg - **** that.

I think I will fight Hatton , take two years out ( or 4 to 6 fights) however you want to look at it , then fight JMM at 20lbs above his best fighting weight.
